History:

Agehana maraho was first discovered in 1932 by a Japanese teacher, Suzuki. 

Morphology:

Big swallowtail butterfly, about 9 to-10 cm when fully 

  extended. 

Black front wing. 

Big central white spot on its rear wing.

Eye-catching protracted tail with several U-shaped  

   red marks

Two veins penetrating the protracted part of the rear 

  wing.

Life Cycle:

 1.Egg Stage

    lasts 5 to 6 days 

    yellowish egg sizing 1mm in diameter

 2.Caterpillar Stage

    lasts 30 to 35 days

    can be divided into 5 instars (Stage in the life of an 

      insect's larva or nymph)   

 3.Pupa Stage: 

    lasts 7 months

    looks like a twig branching from a tree

 4.Adult Butterfly:

    distributed in mountains of the altitudes of 

      1000 to-2000 meters of northern and central  

      Taiwan.

Host Plants: Sassafras randaiense (an endemic plant in Taiwan)
