ジュウシマツのボディーで
①茶色素をアミメの赤茶に置換え（難）
②黒色素を取り除く（易）

考え方：
クロアミメの赤茶メラニンを移入
クリームイノにする
遺伝子：
クロアミメの赤茶メラニン生成遺伝子を
ジュウシマツ上でホモ結合
（染色体上の茶メラニン生成に関する
塩基部分をクロアミメ型で
２本ともに揃える
塩基は特定できないが
交配と選抜により組み換える）
クリームイノにする方法は
確立しているので比較的容易

現在、クロアミメの遺伝子を抽出中
なかなか有精卵が得られない
着手したばかりの状態

NEW COLOR :Project to add Pink-color to Society Finch

Once upon a time,
there was a craftsman whose name was Kakiemon.
Wishing to make chinaware with red pictures on it,
he tried and tested various ceramic materials.
It was after decades of effort that he successfully
fired bright "red" on porcelain for the first time in
human history. What a great master!
Dreaming of becoming a Kakiemon for society finches,
Studio challenges to add a brand-new color,
this time "pink", to the finches. How come?!

【PASSIONATE ABOUT PINK】

One day in the afternoon,
Kaz, the designer at Studio, was watching a Cream-Ino finch girl,
whose cheek turned pink with shyness! -- No; It never happened.
Still Kaz came up to the idea that it would be nice to have
a pink society finch which had not existed before.
There ought to be a way to make it possible.

Why couldn't society finches be pink?
We made a research on the subject by asking many knowledgeble people.
Several interesting findings:
In the case of Canaries, original wild birds did not have any red melanin.
Red color was appropriated from its relative species, red siskins.
Society finches, in turn, had no relatives carrying red melanin.
Several cross-breedings with distant relatives were made,
but were not successful to create fertile red finches.

The dream of pink or diluted red society finches seemed to be vanished.
Hopeless? Then it was again, Kanji Kawabata, the breeding scientist
and the author of Invitation to Begalese Finch (web site),
who gave us a savior suggestion that, though not exactly red,
copper brown melanin (very red) of scaly-breasted finches
could be a source of creating red society finches.
Since it is melanin, it can be diluted by a Cream-Ino gene.
And we all know that diluted red is pink!

【A GENE OF SCALY-BREASTED MUNIA】

Scaly-Breasted Munia is the bird in focus.
It is very common and ordinary. You may think the birds are everywhere.
But the species is divided into many sub-species and only a few of them
have copper brown melanin, the color close to red
which Studio wants to pick. A tremendous effort will be needed
to find a right one.

Then genetic engineering will start to appropriate the gene
for copper brown melanin from a scaly-breasted finch and put it
in a society finch through cross-breedings. Removing scaly patterns,
keeping bigger tail wings, learning a beautiful courtship song
and putting black and darker brown away by a cream-ino gene
will give us a right pink society finch at the end.
The process will be deadly long and only a limited number of
birds will meet all the requirements that Studio sets.

【MAKING AN ALTIMATE SOCIETY FINCH】

One pair of finches may not raise hundreds of babies in their life time.
Therefore, tens of generations will pass before a birth of a pink
society finch. It just requires us to be very persistent,
even beyond our limits of patience in Internet Age.
Will you be with us for such a long time?
Ultimately, Finch Studio plans to create "white-headed society finch
with hot pink" by pairing pink ones with the birds produced
in New Fashion Project introduced previously.
