<< SUDAN >>

I went to Sudan from Egypt by ferry on lake Nasel. It took 2 nights. There are 1st class and 2nd. The former one has a room with a bunk bed and the latter one has a big room with many benches and no Beds. But there isn”Ēt any big difference in cleanliness.

The ferry arrived in Whadi Halfa. Around there is desert and no asphalt roads. Cars just run around on the sand without any laws. I took the train to Atbara and from there went to Khartoum (the capital of Sudan) by bus. The journey by train was 1 night but coaches were so narrow and crowded with people who had a lot of luggages from Egypt.

Khartoum is located on the junction of the White and Blue Nile. There is a big Mosque in the city center and the bazaar is near by. (Such style is common in Arab countries) The city is lively in daytime and seems safe but very dark at night. (There are no streetlights) So it”Ēs better to get there daytime.

I stayed 4nights there and moved to Gedaref by bus and went to the border. I went to Ethiopia.
