Japanese Government promoting IT(Information Technology) now! Prime Minister Yoshiro Mori set up the special budget to develop IT in Japan in this year. Japan aims at the worldfs most advanced country in the area of IT within the next five years. IT Strategy Headquarters submitted the program to Yoshiro Mori, and this strategy program aims that more than 30 million households can access to high speed networks constantly and 10 million households can access to super high speed networks with in next five years.
In the educational world, it is also promoting to furnish with computers at school and make high speed networking system among schools. For example, Japanese Government appointed one part of schools and make high speed networking system among them experimentally.
Government aims to be an advanced country of IT, but can every school teach their students computer literacy now? One survey says only 26.7% of teachers can teach by using computer. It means most of teachers can't use computer sufficiently. It is very important to improve teachers'skill of computer and Internet. Without that, Japan will not be able to become an advanced country of IT. The quqntity of computers setting in school is also not sufficient. One school has 24.9 computers on the average. A class consists of 40 students in Japan. According to this survey, all classmates can't use computers at the same time. But I think this problem will be solved soon. Anyway the most important point is the quality of teachers. Many of teachers can't use computer and Internet well.
