Please give me messages in English
Hello, my name is Chino Hayashi. I'm a student at Phoenix English College.
I want to know a lot of things
through learning English and talking with many people in the
world.
I have been loving painting pictures and making something ever
since I was a child. When I was a university student, I was
studying Japanese paintings and belonged to the circle of making
picture books.
I work at a ceramic doll company as a designer and I love this job because it is very creative.
My dream is to publish good
picture books which can make children all over the world happy
some day!
I am interested in a lot of things. For example I have got
interested in geophysics (history of earth) since I watched NHK's
special. Did you see the TV program?
And I'm reading some books on geophysics, but most of the contents are very difficult to understand. I just started reading the history of organism. It is really interesting. Now I feel like a little boy who is keen on the starry sky!! If you know something about geophysics, please teach me!
I wonder why I didn't get interested in such an interesting subject when I was a school student. Don't you have experience like that, do you?
And I hope that my interest in geophysics will last a long time like the one in English!!
See you next time.!

MY SHORT TRIP
STORY
I started to study English right after I graduated from college.
As I hadn't studied English for four years in my college days, I
forgot English completely then! But I've been studying English
for three years! This is unbelievable, isn't it?
Thanks to learning English, I
could have a lot of good experiences.
About two years ago I stayed in England to learn English for a
month. I know there are many nice countries to study English. But
I decided to go to England because I have an image that England
is "The world of fairy tales and children's story"
I hoped that I would experience
various interesting things in England and the trip was just like
what I expected! I'd like to tell you my interesting and funny
stories.
After visiting England, I also made a short trip to Scotland ,
Wales and Ireland by myself. Those places are close to each other,
but they are quite different. Of course, I liked all these places.
Though it was the first trip and I could hardly communication with people, I went through a lot of wonderful and funny experiences.
The Place I Visited.

STEYNING
STEYNING is a small historical town
of about 6000 habitants in southern part of England, near
Brighton. I stayed there for a month to study English. Some of
the buildings in STEYING are more than 1000 years old.
I was really lucky, because l liked this town and my host family
was very nice! Thanks to them, I had a good time though I could
not stay there long.
Sometimes I took a walk around the town. The scenery was just
like picture books. Imagine, old structures, friendly people,
colorful flower beds, the sound of hoofs, a site of castle,
church, ivied walls. When I found a mansion and looked at the
lawn garden, I found squirrels.
At the High Street, we can buy almost all anything and I enjoyed shopping..
England's "Town" has
everything necessary to live even if it is a small one, I thought.
---Near Steyning---
<a Small farm with a
cafe>
My host family took me to the cafe which has a small farm near
Steyning.
There are geese, hens, ponies, a goat, and a pig.
the most popular pig, George, is so fat that his stomach always
touches on the ground. He is always eating!
We can enjoy our tea time looking at the funny farm.
<Pooh Sticks Bridge>
Everyone knows "Winnie the Pooh"
by A. A .MILNE.
Pooh was born in Heartfield, there are some places that have
connection with "Pooh".
I requested my host father to take me there and we went "the
house of MILNE" and "Pooh Stick Bridge". Pooh's
character was played by "stick flow competition" on the
Bridge in the story. After getting off our car, we walked and
walked to get there.
It was really countryside and calm. I could imagine the scenes of
"Pooh"'s story.
Lake District
Windermere
I moved to Windermere from Inverness. It took a long time and the landscape
completely changed. On the platform for changing trains, I had to wait for an
hour, an old man talked to me. First, I couldn't understand what he was talking
about. But I could get
it gradually, because he repeated the same story many times!
As soon as I arrived at Windermere, I looked for my accommodation. There were a
lot of ”B&B” because Windermere is a very
famous resort spot.
Unfortunately, it's the weekend and the landlady wondered whether she should let
me stay because all the rooms were double and it's not efficient way to let a
single guest like me in double room. As I was supposed to stay three days,
though most of the guests stay one day only, she allowed me to stay in a double
room..
Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter
You know a famous poet " William Wordsworth" and an artist for picture
books, "Beatrix Potter" who is famous as "Peter Rabbit" .
They created such wonderful work in this beautiful place, Lake District.
"The world of Beatrix Potter" which is an exhibition of her work is
located in Bowness next to Windermere and Grasmere near Windermere
is famous for "Wordsworth". I crossed Lake Winderemere by ferry and I
got on the coach to Dove Cottage(The house of Words Worth).
If you visit Lake District, I really recommend this course because you can enjoy
the landscape of beautiful Lake, nature, and thrill.
What is "thrill"? Because this coach is double-decker and there
is no roof upstairs . The couch run through rough road and you'll feel high
wind, smell of green, as looking beautiful scenery of hills and lake.
-Amazing story-
After getting off the couch, I noticed that I left my drawing book on the seat
upstairs of the coach. I was shocked and asked the coach drivers which run the
same course and I called the coach company. Although my English was so
poor, they helped me kindly. But it was not certain that I could get it
back..
Next day, I took a walk and tried to forget about my drawing book. Can you
imagine what happened to me at that time? A coach passed me and I found my
drawing book in it's wind shield. I run after the bus for my life and caught it.
Don't you think what a surprising thing it is. And I wondered why the book
didn't drop from the coach in spite of the strong shaking of the bus driving..
