My nickname is JAVA
My Name is Tetsushi Nakamura. I joined Phoenix last August.
My nickname at this school is Java. Do you know why I am called Java? This strange nickname originated in the drama we made in "One-day intensive course" at this school. It is our original story. The Main character of this story is an African man who can’t speak English. Through this story we tried to show the communication between the person who can speak English and the one who can’t speak English. I acted the main role, whose name was Java. From that time, everyone at this school started to call me "Java"
Actually Java is the one of the computer languages. I chose this name because I am a system engineer.
My family
Let me talk about my family. My family consists of my wife, daughter and myself.
Now I am most interested in playing with my daughter on the weekend. She is one year and two months old. Sometimes she and I listen to the tape of English stories such as Snow white, The Frog Prince etc together.
I want to spend as much time with my family as possible. I have to think about what I can do as a husband and a father. I want to tell you about my family , brother and parents
My wife
My wife regularly stays home with my daughter. She worked at an insurance company for about ten years. When she and I got married, she quit her company, because she had to prepare to give birth to our daughter. Now she spends all her time with our daughter in order to take care of her.
But in the future I hope she will participate in the society by joining some volunteer activities. She hopes to work in the society, too.
Now we want our second child. If she gives birth to the second child, she will have to wait four or five years before she can work in the society. It is getting later and later and harder and harder for her to begin to work again because she does not have any special skill to work. It makes it harder that she does not have specialty. She says that she is enjoying taking care of our daughter, but I don't think it is not only things that she can do in the rest of her life.
It is important for me to achieve my goal. But it is also my responsibility for me let my wife do what she wants to do. After I got married, I sometimes feel that my happiness is not equal to my family's happiness.
My daughter
My daughter's name is Miki. When I decides my daughter's name, I insisted on choosing the name which consists of two syllables, because I want to choose the name which is easy for foreigners to remember. When she becomes adult, she will have a lot of opportunities to communicate with people from other countries, and they can easily remember her name.
I want Miki to be a woman who has a strong will, and think and decide what she should do by herself.
Of course, in the future Miki might decide something I want her not to do. At that time I want to talk to her straightly, without tricking her.
When Japanese praise their daughters and sons, they usually say “Ii Ko Da Ne!”. That means “Good boy (girl)!” in English. I think it means “You are good child for parents (teachers, adults etc)” or “It is convenient for parents (teachers, adults etc) that you do that.” I don't think it is a good idea to
Until now I have some experience that I decided something against my parents. When I decided my company I work for and the girl I got married, I didn't follow my parents' idea, but I don’t feel sorry about it now.
I think a person who is always good to parents can’t become happy. It is important that parents treats child as a person and talk to him or her face to face.
Now I can’t think about my life without Miki. It is my pleasure to spend time with her.
Miki teaches me a lot of things, gives me a lot of things. My dream is to go out with her and have a dinner in Ginza someday.
