| His myth was born at Oga city in Akita. The myth is that... One day, one village, there are some bad 'ONI(ogre)' near the village. They live in one mountain. They came the village and carried off young girls every time. One day they would have carried off the young girl who was daughter for the chief of the village. The chief of village would have stopped it as he as possible. He attached a condition. As for the condition, It was the condition that you were allowed to take a daughter when 'namahage' could make 1000-step stairs at the shrine before a bird sang tomorrow morning. 'Nmahage' accepted the condition. 'Nmahage' hurried, and came back to the mountain, and hurried, and began to make stairs. A village headman looked at the state all the time. To have Passed some time, Namahage finished making stairs though it was still dark and there was time until the morning. A village headman hurries, and cries, and brings the imitation master of the bird of a village No.1. It sang to him, and it was made to have the imitation of the hen.
