Bits & Pieces

Outside China

Thailand: Been there "don't know how many times"...First thing that came to my mind is " sharks' fins & bird nest soup", followed by the "cheapo" seafood & weekend market. Most remembered thing that I bought- That most desired pink slippers !!!

Indonesia: Liked Bali best, why? Because of their "cheapo" juices...avocado juice, mango juice...all quality stuff & how much did I pay...only about 10 spore cents !!!

Australia: Wow...remembered my Perth trip, so "gross", my NIE friends & I took pictures at a dog cemetery...not at the least interested in what the guide said. And what was so special about my Melbourne trip? Ate a "shiok shiok" vietnamese beehoon & was drenched during one of the days! Hope to go Sydney this coming summer holidays...

Korea: Been there 2 times...1st place where I saw snow in my life, so touched! Tried to ski at Yongpyong's resort! And most remembered thing about my second trip-"shop till we drop"...I remembered having to rush for the last train every nites...mad lah!

Malaysia: (Yawn!) Singapore's neighbour...go there like nobody's business! Like to shop there because of our currency...everything seems to be discounted!

Within China

Hongkong: sama sama...shopping lah, what else! Liked their "woman's street" & "man street"...remembered staying in a "lok" hostel where I could jump on the bed once I opened the door...but very cheap!!! 3 days about S$60/=...what do you think?

Shenzhen: stayed there for 2 days without going anywhere except meal hours! Nothing much to remember...

Huangshan: I almost jumped to death!!! We chose an easier way up, that took us about 3 and a half hours, and the next day when I went down, we took another route...it took us a good 5 hours! ( mind you, we didn't take cable car! ) My face was so black until those locals didn't dare to approach me. ( you know, they just want to sell tea leaves.) After that, we stayed in a new hotel at Tunxi, a 1 hour ride from Huangshan. Guess what? I went there again the following year but only to those places at the bottom of Huangshan, didn't dare to climb up the mountain again!

Nanjing: a place where I'm staying now...that's where Nanjing University is located. A very greyish place, I would say...no "life" at all! Nothing much to do everyday except taking a bus to Pukou campus via Yangtze River.( What's so nice to see over there, saw people taking photos over there, PSI must be over 300!!! )      I saw snow at "Jiu Hua Si" ( clean snow )...I'd taken a few nice shots over there!

Suzhou: the most remembered thing was the table-cloth which I wanted to bargain it until 8 rmb!!! The person wanted 10 rmb...so this time around I went back to Suzhou & I discovered that now all the table-cloths was priced at 35 rmb!

Hangzhou: I didn't quite like it there because I fell sick there! Nothing much except the bad service that I experienced in the hotel & the day-trip which made me rush to 5 places in one day with a 20 minute lunch in between!

Wuxi: Good place, cleaner than Nanjing...and there's a big Mos Burger over there! I liked it there except the "haunted" hotel!

Shanghai: ( Yawn! ) It's a place where I have to go if I want to leave China. But it's a great getaway...you can eat better & sleep better. When I go there, I'll go to Sun Island, a resort that is run by a Singaporean! Good place to let you forget that you are in China,You can even have a game of golf over there! What's more interesting is " Xiangyang Lu" aka flea market.  ( But I still think that old "Huating Lu" was better! )
