復活の希望について

１世紀のユダヤ人たちは死後の状態や復活についてどのような
事柄を信じていたのでしょうか。その点を知るために幾つかの
西暦前２世紀から西暦１世紀にかけての文書を見てみましょう。
（１）死者の状態（２）地上への復活（３）地上での永遠の命
（４）肉体による復活（５）ギリシャ思想に影響された例

（１）死者の状態

死者の状態は無意識の状態であることがﾍﾌﾞﾗｲ語聖書の教えですが
（Ec9:5,10、Da12:13)ユダヤ人たちの多くはこの教えを信じ続けたようです。
外典シラ書や死海文書の中から見つかっている第一エノク書は死を眠りに
なぞらえています。シラ書は復活などないと信じていたサドカイ人によるもので
あるものの、その４６章１９節は「永遠の眠り」（koimeseos aionos）と述べる
ことにより、死を眠りになぞらえています。

1Enoch92

3 And the righteous one shall arise from sleep,
[Shall arise] and walk in the paths of righteousness,
And all his path and conversation shall be in eternal goodness and grace.

（２）地上への復活

上述の第一エノク書は復活が地上への復活であることをはっきり示して
います。天への復活という考えはエノクが天に移されたという伝承などの
例外を除けばクリスチャンの時代からのものであるといえるでしょう。
（Lu 22:43も参照）（なおエノク書のうち３７〜７１章の部分のみ死海文書の
中からは見つかっていないことなどからこれは西暦１世紀のユダヤ人による
文書とも考えられています。）

5a For in those days the Elect One shall arise,
5b And the earth shall rejoice,
c And the righteous shall dwell upon it,
d And the elect shall walk thereon.
2 And he shall choose the righteous and holy from among them:
For the day has drawn nigh that they should be saved.

（３）地上での永遠の命

ソロモンの詩編は前１世紀に編纂された文書ですが
義なる者の受け継ぐ永遠の命の希望と不義なる者の
滅び（責め苦ではない）が対照的に描かれています。

Psalms of Solomon3

16 But they that fear the Lord shall rise to life eternal,
And their life (shall be) in the light of the Lord, and
shall come to an end no more.

Psalms of Solomon13

9b For the life of the righteous shall be for ever;
10 But sinners shall be taken away into destruction.

（４）肉体による復活

霊者への復活とちがい、地上に復活する人たちは再び
肉体を持つことについては第二マカベア書とシュビラの託宣のうち
ユダヤ人が編纂してと思われる３〜５章の中に見出されます。
第二マカベア書の中では豚肉を食べるよう強要されたユダヤ人が
そうすることを拒み殉教の死を選ぶ話の中で「再び立ち上がり」
神から「再び体を頂ける」という希望を表明しています。

11These I had from heaven; ... and from him
I hope to receive them again.
14 It is good, being put to death by men, to look for hope from God
to be raised up again by him:
（ここではｷﾞﾘｼｬ語ｱﾅｽﾀｼｽが使われています。）

Sibylline Oracles4:176ff

The bones and ashes of men God himself
Again will fashion, and he will again
Raise mortals up, even as they were before.

（５）ギリシャ思想に影響された例

西暦前２世紀に編纂された外典知恵の書は当時のユダヤ人が
ギリシャ思想に強く影響されたことを示していますが、
魂の不滅という思想を一部の人々が取り入れるようになったことにも
そのことがはっきり表れています。第四マカベア書の中にもそのような
例をはっきり見出すことができます。
パリサイ人が外来の宗教の思想に大きく影響されていたことはよく知られて
いますが、彼らも魂の不滅を信じていました。

Wisdom3:1-4

But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God,
and there shall no torment touch them.
In the sight of the unwise they seemed to die:
and their departure is taken for misery,
And their going from us to be utter destruction:
but they are in peace.
For though they be punished in the sight of men,
yet is their hope full of immortality.
