| ¥á¡¼¥ë¥Þ¥¬¥¸¥ó ¥µ¥ó¥×¥ë The Word: *University* Title: Why do you think people attend university? Structure: (1) Introduction (2) The first reason: university provides a good environment for students to study. (3) The second reason: students can learn something systematically in university. (4) The third reason: students can research something particular deeply in university. (5) Conclusion Example: People attended college and university for different reasons: for example, new experience, career preparation, and increased knowledge. However, from my experience of the university life, I insist the three reasons people attend university. First, universities provide a good environment for their students to study. Second, universities help their students to study systematically to reach their goals in a short period of time. Lastly, they can research exactly what they want deeply and in detail in universities, while they had to study general and broad subjects in high schools. People attend universities because they provide a good environment for their students to study: for example, a good library, and good teachers. With regard to library, students can enjoy wide range of books in the university library they attend. The range of books there may be much wider than most of local public library. Moreover, even if students can not find a book they want to borrow in the university library, they can borrow it from other university libraries if a librarian in the university writes a letter to the university from whose library students want to borrow a book. Besides library, university provides good professors to help students study. A professor may force the students to learn, or another may recommend an appropriate book for the students' research. Furthermore, most of their advices are what the students can not get easily for themselves. University provides students a good environment, in other words library and teacher, therefore people attend university. The second reason to enter universities is that students can learn what they want systematically by following the program universities provide. For example, in the university I attended, English literature department gives the students in the freshman and sophomore grades the basic knowledge about English literature and then, it offers the junior students and the senior students a lot of specific courses so that they can chose from them what they are specially interested in. By following the program, the students can finish writing their graduation thesis on what they are really interested in with the basic knowledge about it. Therefore, it is a reason to enter universities that universities help students to learn systematically by providing the program. The last reason that people enter universities is that they can research what they want to research deeply while they had to learn general subjects broadly in their high school. For example, I was interested in the way Earnest Hemingway was influenced by the paintings, and I researched deeply about it for a year for my thesis. It is impossible to research it in high school because the subjects they learn in high school have been decided by the school, and students can not choose what they learn freely. In conclusion, I would like to say that the reasons people attend university are next three. First, universities provide a good environment to study; for example, their library and professors. Secondary, universities give a good program which the students should follow to learn systematically what they want. Lastly, students can research what they particularly want deeply, while they had to learn the subjects schools decide in high school. |
