Title: Sports in University

Structure:
(1) Introduction
(2) Students learn more practical matters in sports than in study: teamwork
(3) Students learn more practical matters in sports than in study: to manage two areas
(4) Conclusion

Example:

The purposes of founding universities are basically research and the education of students; the purpose of enrolling in a university is normally to study there. Therefore, generally speaking, a university should spend a larger amount of money for the library or other research facilities rather than on sports facilities. However, students actually learn more practical matters through rigorous practice of sports than through study. For example, they try to get along with others in an organization and to succeed both in study and sports. These matters may be more useful in work after graduation.

How students learn to get along with others in an organization is of more practical use in their job than that which they get from knowledge by study. I had four bosses when working for a company as a sales staff. Three of the four had experienced rigorous practices in sports in their universities. At work after graduation, one of these was very good at encouraging his subordinates that included myself. Another took care of his subordinates' jobs rather than his own matters. Yet another had very good sense of humor and he made the atmosphere of the department very cheerful. However, the one who did not experience any activity in sports while in university was good at his individual work, but did not get close to his subordinates. As a result, my co-workers and I worked hard for the three bosses who had learned teamwork in the activities of sports clubs while in their university.

Students learn how to manage the two areas of study and sports through sports activities in university, and it is very important in their lives. My brother belonged to a sports club in his university days. He studied very hard to go abroad for study while never missing practice of the club. Now he is a top salesman in a company, and takes care of his family and his parents very well. In addition he has continued his study of English and reads as many books in English as he can. He manages his job, his family and his hobbies very well, although he is extremely busy. He said he acquired such an attitude or the spirit of "never giving up", through club activities in the university.

In conclusion, the experience of the rigorous practice in sports in a university is very important for students, because they learn how to get along with others and how to manage two things in a busy life. Such things are eternal treasures of life. Therefore universities should spend a large amount of money on sports facilities and encourage students to join sports clubs.
