A proverb says "like father like son", meaning children grew up differently according as what kind of persons their parents are. For example, children whose parents are polite are probably polite, or, children whose parents are sociable may be sociable. It is true that children grew up under the influence of their parents. However, parents are not the best teachers of their children because of the following two reasons. First, they may not perfect and may have some bad influence on their children. Second, they can not spend all the time with their children and need cooperation of others, like teachers in school, friends of the children, and the neighboring society.

First, parents have sometimes a bad influence on their children, for example, alcohol habit and bias, and such bad influence should be neutralized by others. With regard to alcohol habit, a large percentage of the drinkers give family histories of alcoholism in a survey. Children whose parents drink alcohol so often in a large quantity must be neutralized by good friends, teachers, and the neighboring society who teach them the harmful extent of the cumulative effect of alcohol. With regard to some bias, I want to talk about my experience. My parents concerned very much with appearance and name value of schools. They look down on one whose appearance is not good or respect one who graduated from a good university. Through my communication with friends, teachers, and the neighbors, I gave up such bias.

Second, parents can not spend with their children all the time, so they need cooperation of others to bring up their children. Let's take an example of one who had been bullied in the school and committed suicide. The parents of the student committing suicide might not have known the fact that their child had been bullied at the school. The parents needed to have communicated with the teachers, and if need be, they ask a counselor in school or community to help to prevent the child from committing suicide. Moreover the parents may need the help of friends of their child, because students are apt to confess their problem to their friends, according to a survey.

In conclusion, parents are not the best teacher because of the following two reasons: parents sometimes have a bad influence on their children, and, parents can not spend all the time with their children. They need teachers, friends of the children and society to bring up the children to neutralize them from bad influence and to supervise them when parents can not be with their children. Therefore, parents are not the best teacher, but one of them.
