Title: Schools Should Ask Students to Evaluate Their Teachers

Example:

Some traditional Japanese may not like the idea that schools ask students to evaluate their teachers. They will probably say the idea results in the loss of respect for teachers by their students, or they may doubt if students can evaluate their teachers properly. However, I will support the idea of evaluation of teachers by their students because of the following two reasons. One is that I believe the idea is based on democratic thoughts. The other is that society definitely needs good teachers.

The first reason I support for students to evaluate their teachers is the idea fits the idea of democracy. In other words, to evaluate teachers by students will result in doing away with the idea of feudalism. For example, when I was twelve years old, I was slapped in the face by my teacher due to fail to do my homework. However he did not slap other students who failed to do their homework next day. Although I felt it was unfair, I could not make any protest against him. My attitude was based on the idea of feudalism which is out of date in this democratic society where people should get used to talking their opinion freely to any others. In order to do so, students shouldn’t be just patient to unfair teachers, but evaluate them to ask fair treatment.

The second reason to support the idea of evaluation of the teacher by their students is that society needs only good teachers and it should eliminate bad teachers. Unfortunately, teaching ability is very different from each teacher. For example, my writing teacher was very good, and her students learned the exact rules of academic writing. On the other hand, a teacher for another writing class was so bad that students hardly learned anything from him. The results of one year education by the teachers were big difference. When I think the process that good teachers make good students, and the good students make good society, I believe to evaluate teacher is necessary. Society and students need only good teachers.

In conclusion, school should ask students to evaluate their teachers because it results in doing away with feudalism, and eliminating bad teachers. The system fits the democratic society and the good society needs only good teachers.
