Graduation
The Class of 2003 Asia Global MBA
students participated in the University of Michigan
Class of 2003 Graduation Ceremony on Friday, April
25. The ceremony was held at Crisler Arena at
the University of Michigan's Ann Arbor campus.

their colleagues, Dean

and Associate Dean

Class
of 2003 MAP
After
graduation, the Class
of 2003 got
to work on their MAP projects.
Each team is making progress toward their final
report when
they will apply their classroom knowledge to address
real world problems. MAP teams have
already completed their initial analysis and the
projects are proceeding as scheduled. Faculty
Team visits started during the week of May 26.
Professor Michael Johnson met with the MAP teams in
Korea, and Professor Bill Lanen met with the teams
in the US. The faculty team will continue to
meet with student
teams each week through the end of the project.
MAP host
companies for this year include: Avon Gear
Company, Bexel Corporation, Hyundai America
Technical Center, Hyundai Oilbank, Kyobo Life
Insurance, POSCO, and Samsung Fire and Marine
Insurance Company.
The Classes
Meet
Four alumni from the Class of 2002,
joined two students from the Class of 2003, at the
Jaenung Education Institute to talk to the Class of
2004. Representing the Class of 2002, Sangok
Baek from Daewoo Securities, Hongseok Eom from
Hyundai Motors, Inhwan Kim from Hana Bank, and
Sangpil Park from the Carlyle Group joined
representatives from the Class of 2003, Daisuke
Shoji from Nippon Life Insurance and Satoshi
Yoshikawa from Sumitomo Life Insurance, to offer
advice to the Class of 2004.

The three classes joined together for
a question and answer session. Students from
the Class of 2004 were given the opportunity to
probe for information and take advantage of the
Class of 2002 and 2003's past experience.
"Having been there and done that," they
were able to provide sound, candid advice to help
the Class of 2004 prepare for their upcoming year in
the United States.
Asia
GMBA Class of 2004 students get a chance to take

Shoji and Satoshi Yoshikawa from Class of 2003.
After the Q & A Session, everyone enjoyed
the opportunity to eat dinner together
and get to know each in a more informal setting.

Class of 2004
Korea Session
The Class of 2004 is on the move again! The
end of the session in Korea brings a change.
Armed with their newfound knowledge of Oral
Communication Management, Business Statistics,
Financial Management, and Management Accounting, the
students now move to Ann Arbor. The remaining
core courses will be completed during the Summer
term before beginning their elective courses in the
Fall. The photo below shows students during
the session in Korea at the Jaenung Education

Arrival in
Ann Arbor
The majority of the Class of 2004
students arrived in Ann Arbor during the week of
June 2. Now they are busy getting their
households in order. An Academic Orientation
is scheduled for Tuesday, June 10 and classes will
begin on Monday, June 16. The first class they
will take in Ann Arbor is Human Behavior and
Organization taught by Professor
Jerry Davis.
Companies
Gain from Relationship with EAMDC
The
EAMDC hosted a special seminar for the Asia Global
MBA corporate sponsor companies on Tuesday, April
29 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Seoul, Korea.
Professor E. Han Kim, Director of Mitsui Life
Financial Research Center and the EAMDC at the
University of Michigan Business School, delivered
a lecture on the topic of 'Growth and
Distribution: which policy improves the corporate
governance?' Approximately 50 CEO's and
executives participated in this breakfast seminar.
While in
Seoul, Professor E.
Han Kim, Director of the Mitsui Life Financial
Center and EAMDC, provided professional
development to 50 CEO's from
the corporate sponsor companies.
The
EAMDC plans to continue offering seminars for
program sponsor companies to strengthen the
educational partnership between the companies and
the University of Michigan Business School.
