York

York minister
I went on day trip to York, which is situated in the northern part of England. It took about 3 hours by coach from Cambridge.
Firstly I visited York minister. When I saw the appearance of that, I thought it was a castle, because it is too enormous to be thought as the Cathedral. In fact apparently it is the largest Cathedral in northern Europe.
. Inside the building has been decorated a lot, and there are many huge stained glasses. The sight from the entrance was absolutely beautiful.

kings
. I also found the statues of the successive kings of England between 11th and 15th Century.
I was able to find statue of Edward 3rd who is famous as the king who led England to beat France during the hundred years war. In addition when I was in the Cathedral, the rite of baptism was just celebrated. So I was able to feel typical religious atmosphere luckily. It was really nice.

ruins
Afterward I went to art gallery and Yorkshire museum. Although there was nothing interesting in their exhibition, the ruins which were in front of museum were beautiful. I have no idea how they were destroyed, but I really liked them.
Finally I visited the castle and the castle museum. When I found the castle, I was disappointed, because it was just like a small hill rather than a castle, and there was nothing special. Nevertheless I went up the long stairs and intended to go into the castle, but as soon as I found the admission I left there immediately. It was 2 pounds in spite of the fact that the building called the castle was just like an observatory. Then I went to the castle museum. It was interesting in contrast to the castle. I was able to see how people's life has changed in York.
Castle?
On the whole I really liked York. The city has a unique good atmosphere. Now I can understand the fact that a lot of tourists visit the city ever year.
