This is Mr. Shimbo. He is the vice president. He is really funny teacher. He likes playing cards with us and joking but his jokes are not funny. He said he has been spotted and recruited as an actor to Nikkatsu when he was young but he turned down the offer.

This is Mina. She is from Canada. She teaches English Activity Class. Her parents are Japanese but she was born and grew up in Canada, so she speaks English rather than Japanese. Now she attends Hokkaido University. She is gifted with both beauty and intelligence!!

ImageThis is Shaun.  He is from England. He became 29 years old on Nov. 3rd. His charmpoint is beard. His hobby is rafting. He hates mice very much!! He has the habit of saying "okie-dokie". He always jokes in the class but his jokes are really difficult to understand. But we assure you that he is good teacher!!!

ImageShaun teaches Oral English A class. In this class, we read articles from The Japan Times and answer his questions and discuss the articles. We also do our text book.

ImageThis is Derek.  He is from Australia. He looks older but is actually just 29 years old. He is married to a Japanese woman and has 2 children. He is sometimes childish but he is a really good teacher!!! We often play cards with him after school.

ImageDerek teaches the Oral English B class. In the Oral English B class, we sometimes play English games and do our text book. We have to read a book written in English and write a journal about it.

☆School trip to America!!!☆

We went to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, America for 2 weeks during summer vacation.  These are the photos that we took in Milwaukee.

Image

This is a picture of Milwaukee's downtown,

ImageThis is The Tri-County YMCA.  The Sapporo and Tri-County YMCA have built a partnership. We did home stay for 10 days. We spent really valuable time in Milwaukee. (from the left, Ms. tsukui, Mayu, Kumiko, Kotomi, Kato, Tetsuya, Yagi, Reiko, Suzuki, Takagi, Hiroki, Hitomi, Saori and Miku)

ImageThis is Miku's host family.  From the left, Riley,  Warren, Miku, Avery and Kay.  It was the first time for them to be a host family so they were really excited.  They treated me as one of family member.  I love them very much.

ImageThis is The Art Museum in Milwaukee downtown.  It looks like The Opera House in Sydney.  There were lots of beautiful pictures and sculptures.

ImageWe skated in Pettit Center. There were many children practicing ice hockey and figure skating. This center is also used by the American Olympic athletes. We couldn't skate well at the beginning but we could do well in the end.  It was really fun!!

ImageThis is Saori's host family's kid Kristie (on the center).  She is 17 years old.  She came with us.  She learns Japanese in her high school and is very interested in Japanese culture.

ImageWe taught Japanese Culture to the children who attended YMCA's Day camp. We tought Origami and Calligraphy. We also brought some Yukatas and got the children to dress up in them. There were lots of children so it was a little bit hard but they seemed to enjoy it so we were happy!  Saori and I taught Origami.

ImageWe visited a supermarket called Pick'n Save. A woman named Karen showed us all over the supermarket. She gave us many kinds of samples. It was really different from Japanese supermarkets.

ImageThis was one day's lunch.  It was really delicious but too much for us so nobody could eat all of it!! In this restaurant, there were many devices so we liked this restaurant very much.

ImageThis is a picture of Miku's hostfamily's kids (left is Avery, right is Riley).  We had a big pizza for dinner. It was really yummy!!!  I think the taste was a little bit different from a Japanese pizza.

ImageOne evening, My hostfather asked Avery to mail a letter so I went to the mailbox with Avery on a scooter.  It was the first time for me to ride it so I was terrible rider.

ImageWe danced YOSAKOI at the Farewell Party.  We practiced it for a long time before we went to America.  Our host families enjoyed seeing our dancing very much, so we were happy!!!

☆We often have a party in the class☆

ImageWe had a BBQ Party in Sapporo Sato Land on June 28th.  We invited some International students of Hokkaido University and our English teachers to the party.   After we had lunch, we played park golf.  It was way fun!!!!!!!!!!  We learned "I'm full" in Spanish from a student named Alex.

Image   Image

We had a Birthday and Farewell Party for Grant on Nov. 19th in his class.  He is from New Zealand and was our teacher of Oral English class for one and half year.  He left Japan to Australia on Nov. 21st.  We brought some foods, drinks and snacks.  We gave him one thousand paper cranes and massage album.  After we had lunch, we played Musical Chair.  It was so fun!!  He was really wonderful teacher so we miss him so much!!!!!

ImageHis name is Jon.  He is a famous DJ who is from England.  We invited him to English Activity's class and showed  and taught us how to scratch.   It was the first time for us to scratch.  It was really good experience and we came to like it!!  He was really nice guy!!
