Anemia

Why does iron deficiency cause anemia? The burning of glucose and oxygen in cells creates energy. Hemoglobin, which is composed of iron, in red cells delivers oxygen throughout the body. When not enough hemoglobin is produced your body becomes deficient in iron. Many people are not even aware they may be anemic but if you experience silent symptoms such as tiredness, palpitation, dizziness, nausea and buzzing you should check with your doctor. Copper is essential when iron is used to make hemoglobin. Vitamin C and Vitamin B6 enhance the absorption of iron at the intestines and they support the synthesis of hemoglobin. To prevent megaloblastic anemia, Vitamin B12 and folate are essential to synthesize red blood cells.
