My life in America

「She can not speak English」

I was high school students when I first took airplane.

At the time, We are just following our teacher.

I have never taken airplane by myself, not to speak of

I have never been to foreign country.

This is first time that I take airplane by myself.

My destination is Kansas of America. I changed airplane

two times when I come to America. American airport

dose not compare with Japanese airport for size. It was

very very big!! I have to get on a bus for go to my gate.

I pointed at my ticket and said only one word " Where?"

She came to bus station for me and said " She can not

speak English." to bus driver. She also told her that place

for I get off a bus.

　

　This word, which is "She can not speak English."

I get to hear this word some times from now.
　

Japan is the Festival of the Dead, but America is a new school term.

I was late in school about month. Dorm room was not vacant and

I could not get visa for long time. My roommate, she is from Vietnam

She has stayed in this country before, so her English was good.

How about me? I did not understand if without write on paper.

Her friend come to our room some time. She was talking with

her friend. It was something like fun. She knows that I can not understand

English. I needed her help every day. Maybe, I was too heavy for her.

"I was shocked. She can not understand if I do not write on paper. I am

really tired when I think about Sachi." She said. I do not know why, but I understood

only that time. I was also shocked when I heard that.

　Few months later, she say " At the time, you could not understand　English.

So I needed that somebody listen to me.　If you could understand me, then I 　

did not need talk to another person."
　

　First semester, I took classes which do not use English very much.

Use my body or Math. I already learned about math in Japan So I could. And

next semester ( this semester) more take classes than last semester and use

English.
　

I opened an account in Bank. In America, many people are using check or card.

I spent with card and cash last semester. But card is limit to the money, so if

I paid money for college, then I can not use anymore. I do not have to work, of course

money does not increase. I already paid for dorm, food and classes before

begin the semester. I do not need worry about food. But I worried about money

for wash my clothes. I am washing my clothes one times a week. I went to bank

when I have no money. They deducted money from my card and gave me cash.

I also exchanged from my Japanese money into American money. But if I have an

account in bank, my parents can send money from Japanese bank to American

bank. I can with draw money from my bank account if I have ATM card.

I do not do yet.
　

　I made a social security number. In America can not work if no social security

number. Many people are working on this campus, but they have social security

numbers. I need number if I work. So I got number. I went to social security office

which is about half and one hour from my college.
　

　We can not go anywhere if no car. And nothing around my college. So I have to

ask somebody when I need go somewhere. Because I do not have car. I need

somebody's help in this country. I sometime feel so sorry for them when I ask about

something.
　

　I wrote about my life in America just a little bit.

　I am sorry my poor writing. I will write again when I got new things.
