(1) Universities (undergraduate level) and
junior colleges
Students who want to enter a university or
junior college must have completed 12 years
of school education outside Japan, and must
have completed secondary education. In the
case of students from countries where school
education is 10 or 11 years, they are considered
equal to students who have completed 12 years
of school education if they complete a "Course
of Preliminary Study for University Entrance,"
including Japanese, at an authorized institution.
(2) Universities (graduate level)
a. Master's course: Students will be eligible for admission
to to graduate school if they graduated from
a four-year university or are recognized
as having academic ability of this level
or higher on passing the admissions qualification
examination for graduate school. Candidates
are required to be at least 22 years old.
b. Doctor's course: Students wtill be eligible for admission
to doctoral programs if they have a master's
degree or are recognized as having academic
ability at this level or higher, including;
students who have been conferred degrees
that are equal to master's degrees outside
Japan, who are recognized as having academic
ability of master's degree level or higher
on passing admissions qualification examination
for graduate school. Candidates must be at
least 24 years old.
c. Research student: Entrance qualifications differ by university.
Qualifications are graduation from a university,
completion of a master's course, or completion
of a doctor's course. Please confirm details
directly with the university of your
choice.
