大阪国際女子マラソンの弘山選手、惜しかったようですね。いつもオリンピックのマラソン選手選考の時はいろいろ議論があって、すっきりいかないような気がします。こうなったら一発勝負で選考大会を開き、それで決定してしまったらどうなんでしょうか。どうもこの選考の参考となる大会（東京・大阪・名古屋各国際女子マラソン）で各選手が燃え尽きてしまうような気がしてならないのですが。

またしてもTOEICでへなちょこぶりを発揮してしまいました。勉強不足といってしまえばそれまでなのですが。やはり私の場合、テストでのリスニングのスタミナをつけることが必要なようです。普段ネイティブと会話しているときには、いろいろな問題について討議調になってしまうので、興味もわいて疲れ知らずなんですけどねー。根気強く練習問題をコツコツと練習する方がいいんでしょうが、これがなかなか苦手で・・・。
明日はTOEIC。勉強しなきゃと思うのですが、なかなか手につきません。何となくテレビを見ていたら、映画「ＧＩジェーン」を放映していたので、思わず見入ってしまいました。
ご覧になった方も多いと思うので、ここではストーリーは書きませんが、いくつものことがこの映画から感じられますね。
まず第一に、自分の意思で頑張っているように見えて、実は他の人間に利用されているだけに過ぎないということが多いのかもしれないということ。デミムーア扮するGIジェーンが、女性差別撤廃を唱える女性政治家に推されてSEALに入隊、過酷な訓練に耐え抜くのですが、結果知ったことは、その政治家が自分の政治生命のために、デミムーアをゲームの駒として使っていたにすぎなかった、ということです。
第二には、終盤ジェーンが実戦を経験し、マスターチーフをを救出するにあたって功績をあげるシーンです。その前のSEALの訓練は理不尽な程過酷を極めますが、それが自分の生命や自分の国を守るために必要だったと知ります。練習とは実戦のためにあるもの。練習の延長線上に実戦がある、とすれば実戦をイメージできなければ、なかなか練習で進歩するものではないということを感じます。英語の実戦（実践）をイメージできているでしょうか。
まあ今頃になって取り組んでも遅いのですが、一応今週末のTOEICを受けるにあたって何か勉強しようと思い、植田一三先生の「これ一冊で８６０点突破」（アスカ出版）を購入しました。まあ今日も深夜まで飲んでしまいましたし、次回のためって感じかなあ。
いよいよ今週末はスーパーボウルとなりました。昨日はちらっとＮＦＣチャンピオンシップをテレビで見ましたが、終盤のバッカニアーズの攻撃で、素人目にはどう見てもパス成功にしか考えられないプレーがパスインコンプリートになったのは、ちょっと納得がいきかねました。現地のコメンテーターもジャッジに疑問を投げ掛けていたようです。
結果、スーパーボウルはセントルイス・ラムズとテネシー・タイタンズの組み合わせとなりました。ラムズと言えば、まだモンタナが現役の頃のナイナーズとともに来日し、プレシーズンマッチをやった記憶がありますね。どうもＬＡラムズと言った方が、いまだに私にはピンときます。（タイタンズもヒューストン・オイラーズの方ががピンときます。）ちなみに当時、セントルイスにはカージナルスというＮＦＬのチームがあり、ニックネームがＭＬＢ・ＮＦＬ共通だったんですけどね。そのＮＦＬのカージナルスはテンピに移転してしまいました。そう言えば当時ＬＡにはレイダースもフランチャイズを置いていて、オリンピックスタジアムを使ってましたよね。全米２位の街でありながら、現在ＬＡにはＮＦＬのチームがありません。シーホークスが来るという噂もありましたが、どうなったんでしょう。セーフコフィールドを使うのかな、シーホークスは。それにしてもセーフコフィールドはきれいですね。シアトル在住の知り合いが絵はがきを送ってくれましたが、さすがに新球場だけあってすばらしいです。

昨年ベストセラーになった早大生、乙武洋匡さん著の「五体不満足」が弱視者や高齢者にも読めるよう、大活字版で出版されることになったようです。今までもいくつかの作品が大活字版で発行されてきたようですが、特に「五体・・・」が大活字本になることは非常にいいことだと思います。乙武さんも「出版に寄せる言葉」をプレゼントしてくれた、とのことです。
一方「TIME」も１月３１日号から拡大字版を発行するようです。価格も通常版の５７％割引で、現行の活字の１．５倍の大きさのポイントを使用するとのこと。こうした動きは他誌にも広がっていって欲しいですね

今日は千葉でも日中、雪が舞いました。そのうち止んでしまったので、積もるまでには至りませんでしたが。
何となく夕方のラッシュ時の電車を見ながら、「あの電車の車両の中に、どれくらいのサラリーマンたちの不満が溜まっているんだろう。」と思ってしまいました。
学ぶ機会を得ることの貴重さ、ということに私たちの世代は気づいていないのかもしれません。学生、特に高校時代までは、私にとって勉強はやらされるものであって、能動的に取り組むものではありませんでした。我々の親の世代のことを考えると、非常にぜいたくであると言わざるを得ないでしょう。英語だって学生の時にしっかり勉強しておけばよかったのに、と思います。（日本の中学・高校英語教育に問題はあったにせよ、です。）今一度学ぶ機会があること自体の貴重さをかみしめて、英語に向かっていきたいな、と思います。

日本の企業においてはこれからいろいろな改革が進んでいくと思います。職階や業務のシステムにもいろいろとメスが入れられていくことでしょう。
最近思うことは、日本の企業というのは目的集団ではなくて、生活集団なんだなということです。とはいうものの、私は他の会社のことを知りませんから、こういう言い方をするのは適切でないかもしれませんが。
企業の本来の目的というのは、できるだけ多くの利益を上げることによって、出資者である株主に利益を還元することにあると思います。「いい会社」という定義は、株主・経営陣・社員・行政それぞれの立場によって違うでしょう。しかし、企業本来の存在はやはり利益追求が基本にあることは言うまでもない、と考えます。
そういう観点でものを考えた場合、まず企業としておこなうべきは、社員の労働生産性を高めることにあるでしょう。そのためにはまず、企業と社員の関係をもう一度見つめ直さなくてはなりません。つまり、社員が滅私奉公するコマではなく、自らがいかに利益を効率的に上げるかを自発的に考える独立した一個人である必要があると思います。その観点からすると、組織論が非常に遅れているのかもしれません。
アメリカのエリートビジネスパーソンは、嫌いな人間だから一緒に飲みに行かないといった発想ではなく、相手がどういう性格でも有用な情報を握っている人間であれば、かまわず積極的に誘って飲みに行くそうです。つまりアフター５も常にビジネスにダイレクトに直結しているとのこと。もちろんつきあい残業などはなく、スケジュールや自分の仕事内容を自分でコントロールし、残業も自分の意思でおこなっているそうです。
日本的な発想もいいところがたくさんあると思いますが、まだまだアメリカ人に学ぶことは多そうですね。
「英語を第二公用語に」というシンクタンクの提案がされたことについて、ネイティブがどう感じたか尋ねてみました。
・まずその提案の内容がどうのこうの言う前に、日本の政治家はいろいろなことを「考える」ばかりで、何も実行に移せていない。これは政治に関することだけでなく、日本においていろいろな部分で言えることだと思う。
・もちろん、自分たちネイティブにとってはいいこと。だが、以下のようなネガティブな面が多いので、個人的には反対である。
・第二公用語として英語を採用した場合、おそらく日本語は衰退するであろう。言語というのはその国の文化のreflectionである。日本語はとても美しい言葉だと思う。それを棄てることになるのは、自分たちの文化を棄てることになる。最近は漢字を書けない子供が多いそうではないか。英語がどうという前に、日本語の教育をしっかりした方がいい。
・日本に来たネイティブたちは、日本の人々が英語を話せなかったり聞き取れなかったりすることを嘆くことが多い。実際、来日当初自分もそうであった。しかし、ここは日本なのだから、それを認める姿勢も持たなくてはならない。それに最近では英語を多少話す人も多くなってきている。一方、確かにヨーロッパ人は英語を話すが、彼らはアメリカと同じwesternerであり、日本より遙かに文化の隔たりがない。
・おそらくシンガポールや香港のように英語によって新たなヒエラルキーが成立することが予想される。つまり、英語が使える人間がより給料の高いポジションに就くことになり、日本語教育は忘れられることになるだろう。またネイティブたちは、自分たちが英語のネイティブスピーカーであることによって、日本人よりも自らの方がポジションが上であるという風に感じることになるかもしれない。
・おまえ（私のこと）のように英語を学ぶのが好きな人間はいいかもしれないが、そうでない人間がたくさんいるだろう。彼らに英語を強要できるのか？公用語とするという意味をよく考えて欲しい。
一個人の意見ではありますが、いろいろと考えさせられました。
2001年の４月１日から株式売却に対する税制が変わります。どう変わるかというと、いままであった総合課税の選択ができなくなる、ということです。
今までは１．総合課税、２．申告分離課税の二つの選択肢がありました。これは次のようになります。
１．総合課税・・・株式売却額の１．05％を税額とする。
２．分離課税・・・株式売却益の２６％を税額とする。
例；
Ａ社株 5,000株 買値500円 売値1,000円
１．1,000円×5,000株×1.05％＝52,500円
２．（1,000円ー500円）×5,000株×26％＝650,000円
もちろん２の場合損益通算ができますから、逆に損失があった場合は有利になるわけですが。ここで問題なのは、この法改正によってキャピタルゲインを目論むベンチャー企業にとって不利になること、2001年度における株価の低迷が予想されることです。
現在日経平均が20,000円に届いていませんが、景気低迷を打破するベンチャーの芽を摘まないような施策をしてほしいものです。
今週のニッポン放送「おはよう中年探偵団」の「お便り日本晴れ」のコーナーでこんなハガキが読まれました。
ある主婦の方の投稿で「松戸では、給食を食べない自由、というのがあって、高校（中学だったかも・・・）では出された給食を食べるか食べないかは生徒の自由なんです。せっかく栄養のバランスがとれた給食なのだから、全員が食べるようにすればいいのに。最近は給食もおいしいっていうし。」ということでした。これに対し高島秀武さんが「給食を食べない生徒が多数派になったら、逆に給食を食べる方がなんか気まずいよな。」と言っていましたが、ホントにそうですね。私は給食って結構好きだったんだけどなー。残すのに罪悪感があったので、多少苦手なものも食べてしまったし。

・plug；Thre word plug can be a noun or a verb.Here it's a noun,and it means to promote some kind of product by mentioning it on the television or somewhere and not payed for like advertising.
・take the initiative；If you take the initiative,it means that you make a first move or you get something started.
・winner；A winner is,for example,a winning horse in a horse race.What it means here is that our idea is going to be success,we're going to win in this situation.
棚卸資産のうち、販売用不動産については不動産販売・ゼネコン・ハウスメーカー各社で既に評価損を計上する（もしくは固定資産への振替）動きがありますが、会計士協会でこれを各社強制的に実際におこなう（もちろん、一定の枠はありますが）よう、実務指針が出されるようです。一定以上の販売用不動産を保有する会社を監査している会計士事務所には、会計士協会長名の通達も出されるとのこと。原則こうした棚卸資産の評価損は有税ですから、会計・税法両面から厳しい状況になりそうです。
いわゆるこの時価会計は、今までの会計システムではバランスシートに表れてこない、隠れたる会社の債務、含み損（もちろんその逆もありますが）などを明らかにして、経営状況について情報を開示する、という大きな流れに沿ってのものです。これは退職給付会計とともに、各社にとっては非常に大きな影響があり、利益確保の問題と法人税の問題にかなり頭を痛めることになるでしょう。
こうした未実現の損失までオンバランス化するのですから、当然投資家が投資しやすいような法整備（特に税法）が必要と考えられます。ホームトレーダーが激増している昨今、機関投資家のみの資金をあてにしていたのでは、資金の株式市場への流入が不十分です。会計システムをグローバルスタンダード化する流れにあるならば、個人投資家・ベンチャーに対する優遇税制なども検討されてしかるべきです。

小渕首相の私的シンクタンクが新世紀にむけての日本への提案を、首相宛提出したようです。その中で何と「英語を第二公用語に」という提案が！！！もちろんこれは、あくまで首相の「私的な」機関の提案ですから、そのままこれが国会で通るとは思えませんが、大きな観点から見れば、コミュニケーションの手段としての英語の重要性が日本において高まってきている、ということは間違いなく言えるでしょう。以前からここで何回か言っていますが、ＰＣと英語はビジネスマンとして当然に使いこなすのが当たり前の時代がもうすぐそこまで来ているのは確実であると感じます。しかし、あくまで「ツール」。もちろんもっと必要な要素はあって、それを身につけなければなりませんが。

スペインリーグ・バリャドリッドへ移籍した城が、今日途中出場しました。テレビで見ましたが、なかなかの動きだったのではないか、と思いました。まあ、ゲームが決定した中での後半最後の顔見世興行的な部分はありましたから、差し引かなくてはならないかもしれませんが、それにしてもポストからの球出し、パスアンドゴーなどよかったんじゃないでしょうか。惜しむらくは味方と重なってしまったシュートチャンス、あれは城に譲って欲しかったですねー。その後もフリーだった城にパスしてほしかった。でも既にその選手もＤＦと絡んでオラオラ状態だったので、「まあ、シュート打っとけ。」みたいなところはありましたが。今日見た城の動きと、試合後のインタビューの感じでは、城自身、テクニック的にはやっていく自信がある、でもサッカーは全体の中での動きで左右されるから、というように考えているように思いました。海外で活躍するには、本来の技術面以外に戦わなくてはならないものが多いでしょう。しかし、それを乗り越えて頑張ってくれ、城！じょー・しょーじ！

・boil down to；is an idiom,if you boil something down in water,finally what you are elect with is the main part or the most essential part,so it means the essential part is.
・let alone；means not to mention,means what follows is something with even smaller possibility than you have already said.So the schools count for basic things such as books,therefore looking out the pets is even harder.
・get the picture；is an idiomatic expression,meaning understand the situation.We often use it with the verb,begin,as here or with start to show the situation now becoming clear.
・That's how Chow Down sees it.；Here see means view or perceive,so it means that's Chow Down's perception or understanding of the situation,though somebody else's perception may be different.
旧ユーゴスラビアで民族浄化運動の中心となってきた、とされるZ,"ARKAN"Raznatovicが暗殺された、というニュースが入ってきました。彼については、'99．４．12号のTIMEに記事が掲載されていましたので、記憶にある方も多いかもしれませんね。
１０代で祖国を離れヨーロッパ中を動き回り、強盗などInterpol（国際刑事警察機構）による７件の彼に対する逮捕令状が出ている、とのこと。７０年代にはユーゴ当局と提携し、８０年代半ばまでにベルグラードに戻ってState Security Serviceに勤務、８０年代後半にはサッカーチームのサポータークラブ（レッドスターベルグラード？）のリーダーとなり、それを彼の準正規軍に編成し直したということです。長年、ミロシェビッチ氏とその子飼いは、ARKANが単独で活動していて、我々とは関係がない、と主張していたようですが、ARKAN本人の発言から彼がミロシェビッチの指令によって動いていたことは想像に難くないようです。（以上TIMEによる。）
結局、彼自身もうまく利用されたにすぎないということでしょうか。彼が暗殺されたからといって、すべてが解決するわけではなく、一旦発生したお互いの憎悪というものは簡単に消え去るものではないでしょう。

・route；In the vignette,Mann said route(ru:t) and I think pretty much every-else people pronounces route.There are two pronunciation for the word in English.The other one is route(raut),that's the one I tend to use.
・root；This word is pronounced sometimes the same way as route.There is the secondary pronunciation for root,it's instead of root(ru:t) it's root(rut),but I don't think this is common in US.
昨年のＪＲＡ年度代表馬がエルコンドルパサーに決定しました。世界の大レースの凱旋門賞で２着に入った実績を買われたのでしょう。私もエルコンドルパサーは評価に値する馬だと思います。普通の年であれば、年度代表馬でもいいとは思います。
しかし、今年は春・秋の天皇賞、そしてジャパンカップを制したスペシャルウィークがいました。途中の議論はともかく、古馬最高の栄誉である天皇賞を、しかも中距離（秋）長距離（春）二つの違いを乗り越え、更に世界の強豪が集う国際Ｇ１ジャパンカップを勝っても、年度代表馬になれなかったという事実は、日本でおこなわれるレースの意義というものを自ら貶めたと言えるのではないでしょうか。
毎年、天皇賞やジャパンカップ、そして菊花賞やマイルＣＳといったＧ１を戦ってきて、各馬が必ずしもベストでない状態で争われる（ように私は感じる）有馬記念優勝馬が年度代表馬になりがちだったので、私は若干不満があったのですが、今回の決定は非常に残念です。もちろん、私も凱旋門賞に果敢に挑戦し、２着となったエルコンドルパサーも大いに評価すべきだと思います。しかしだからといって、ＪＲＡの年度代表馬をエルコンドルにするのでなく、特別表彰のような形にはできなかったのでしょうか。
これではっきりしたことは、ＪＲＡには単に外国産馬だけでなく、外国厩舎所属馬にもダービーや天皇賞を解放する姿勢を持ってもらう必要がある、ということです。一番の問題はここなのです。自らの主催レースのグレードを高めてもらわなければ、こうしたことは毎回起こるでしょう。
少し古い話になりますが、Ｊリーグのベルマーレ平塚が湘南ベルマーレと名称を変更するようですね。今まで Ｊリーグではチーム名には「都市」名を冠するようなルールがありましたが、今回の決定でこれが覆ったことになります。
これについては個人的に少々残念です。せっかく「都市名」を名乗り、ヨーロッパのようにスポーツと地域が密接に結びついていくことを目指していたＪの精神が、やや崩れたような気がするからです。（平塚→湘南、というのも発想的に？な感じ。同様に、横須賀なのに「湘南」シーレックス（ベイスターズファーム）？？？）もし私が平塚市民であったら、また平塚のサッカー少年だったら「平塚」という名を日本中に知ってもらう機会がなくなったことを残念に思うでしょう。Ｊリーグが始まるまで「鹿島」や「磐田」という地名を知らなかった人も多かったと思います。
アメリカにおいても例えばＭＬＢテキサスレンジャースはアーリントンという本拠地の地名ではなく、州名を名乗っています。同様にして、コロラドロッキーズも州名を冠していますね。しかし一方で、カリフォルニアエンジェルスは都市名のアナハイムエンジェルスに改名しています。いずれにしても言えることは、州名・都市名を名乗っていて、地域名を名乗っているチームはＮＦＬペイトリオッツくらいではないかと思います。
小さな街のチームでも、セリエＡのパルマのように世界的なチームであることもあります。私はパルマに行ったことはありませんが、パルマ市民が自らの都市名を冠したパルマというチームを誇りに思わないはずはないでしょう。せっかく中田が世界的に有名な選手になり、その出身チームの名「BELLMARE HIRATSUKA」が世界のプレスに取り上げられる機会もあったのになあ、と思うとちょっと残念ですね。
完璧に風邪を引きました。発熱と吐き気で最悪の状態です。病気になると健康のありがたさって本当にわかりますね。
千葉銀座からそう離れていないところに、「千葉ロッテマリーンズを優勝させる会」の事務所を発見しました。（某ビル５Ｆ）はたしてどういった活動をされているのかわかりませんが、石井選手も加入したことですし、今年こそパリーグ制覇のみならず、日本シリーズ優勝めざしてがんばってほしいですね。
埼玉大学が国立大学としては初めて、県境を越えて、ＪＲ東京駅前に大学院の分校をつくることになったようです。「国際ビジネスと金融」といった講義をここでおこなうようですが、大学側では「勤務地に近い教室をつくる必要性は以前から感じていた。国際金融にかかわる人はどこにいるかというと東京なんです。地方大学として生き残りをかける意味での取り組みは先駆者になる。これからの大競争社会では大学も例外ではない。」と言っています。現実的に浦和の本校で講義が始まるのは６時で、都内で勤務しているサラリーマンが仕事を終えて駆けつけるのは時間的に困難であった、ということです。過去の志願者の内、都内勤務者は埼玉県内勤務者を上回っているそうです。
この埼玉大の試みは国立大学としては非常にユニークだと思いますが、いよいよ日本にもビジネススクールの定着の時代が来たかと思うと同時に、国立大学であってもこのように学生集めに真剣になるようになったんだなあと感じます。

昨日の深夜、つまり今朝、サッカー新世紀という番組がありました。基本的には中田選手を扱ったものでしたが、その中でＡ代表監督のトルシエと横浜Ｆマリノスの中村選手のインタビューがとても印象的でした。トルシエ曰く「日本代表に足りないもの、それは国際経験だ。中田や名波はイタリアでプレーすることによって、技術的、戦術的にいろいろなものを吸収してくるだろう。」、中村選手は「おそらく近い将来、Ａ代表の選手は海外のチームでプレーしている選手ばかりになるだろう。そうならないと、強くならないですよね。」と言っていました。
これは日本のサラリーマンにも言えることではないでしょうか。これからビジネスはより世界との繋がりを必要としてくるでしょう。そうなったときに必要なもの、それはやはり国際経験とネゴシエーション能力、それを支える語学力といったところではないでしょうか。今やＰＣを使いこなせなければ、ビジネスの現場ではついていけなくなっていますが、近い将来英語を使いこなさなければビジネスができない時代になる可能性は高いような気がします。

今日は駅伝大会に選手として出場しました。天候もよく、絶好のランニング日和でしたが、なにぶん練習が不足しすぎており、襷を途絶えさせてしまうのではないか、と不安でした。私が走ったのはわずか３ｋｍにしかすぎないのですが、距離が短いということは当然それなりのスピードを要求されるわけです。箱根のランナーがキロだいたい３分前後で走りますが、このキロ３分というのがいかに超人か、ということは走ってみるとわかります。何とか襷もつないで、結果部門３位（この「部門」というところがミソなんですけど）となり、生涯で初めてスポーツでメダルをもらいました。いやー、こんな小さい大会でもメダルっていいもんですねー。サッカーや野球で、メダルをくれる大会で３位に入ったことがなかったものですから。
スカイパーフェクＴＶに加入してからもう何年かになります。番組契約の中で、パック契約（いくつかのチャンネルをチョイスする）という選択肢があり、私もこれで契約しています。
普段であればこの中でチョイスしていないチャンネルは見ることができませんが、年末年始、ゴールデウィークには、契約していないチャンネルもサービスで見ることができます。何と言っても私のお気に入りは、Star Digioで、これはテレビではなくラジオ１００ｃｈを聴くことができ、J-POPだけでも１０数チャンネルがあります。特にJ-POPヒットチャートやROCK&POPSヒットチャートは、最新ヒットを居ながらにして知ることができます。またアーティスト特集も充実していて、今年の１月（９日まで・無料聴取は６日まで）はマライアキャリーの特集などがあってなかなかよかったです。
当然英語関係でも、OkiDokiやGLCなどのチャンネルがあり、私も契約しています。とは言ってもなかなか見ることはできないんですけど。「こちらボケボケ探偵所」（確かOkiDoki）はたまに見ますね。これはＵＫのコメディで、？？？なジョークも出てきますが、気楽に見るにはいい番組だと思います。 もう終わってしまいましたが、「パパはお気楽」というコメディ（sitcom）はかなりおもしろかったですねー。

今アメリカで話題になっているものの一つに、ＭＬＢアトランタブレーブスのJohn Rocker選手の人種差別発言があります。残念ながら彼は、日本人の女性に対して差別的な発言をしています。詳しくは以下のアドレスで

子供たちのあこがれであるＭＬＢのトッププレーヤーがこのような発言をするのは非常に残念でなりません。その発言がメディアに乗って世界中に発信される立場にある人間が、そういう個人的な思想（人種差別）を公にするなど許されるべきものではないと思います。彼は精神鑑定を受けることになったようですが、親会社がメディア（ＣＮＮ）であることも考えれば、厳格な対応を望みたいと考えます。
４月にフルマラソンを走ってから、全くランはしていませんでしたので（サッカーはやっていましたが）、来るべき次のレースに向けて練習をしてみました。昨年は練習をする時間の余裕は全くなく、今年もこの先時間が取れそうもないので、少しはやっておかなきゃな、と思ったわけです。いきなり１０ｋｍ走ってみましたが、やはりきついですねー。何とか走りきったものの１時間近くもかかってしまいました。おまけに足の裏の皮がむけ、痛くてたまりません。徐々に、というのはなかなか難しいですね。

・the call of duty；means whatever is necessary for your job or position.Here the salespeople did some more than the job demanded,so they were going beyond the call of duty.
昨日のテレビ番組から二つほど感想を。
まず一つ目は、ＮＨＫのクローズアップ現代。ある会社で人材活性のためにポイント制を導入し、各社員はその与えられたポイントを有効に活用し（例えば資格取得の為の書籍購入は何ポイント、専門学校学費は何ポイントという感じ）、その能力をアップさせているという内容でした。もはや与えられた仕事を無難にこなすだけでは足りず、同じこなすにしても高いレベルでこなすことを社員が求められている、自分自身のスキルは自発的にやっていかなくいてはならない時代になっていることは間違いがないようです。
二つ目はＮステで取り上げられたニュースの中で、米国の株価ダウン。アナリストは中長期的に見れば、この株価安はＩＴ革命に踊らされた投資者の利食い売りによる一時的なもの（ナスダック銘柄かと思いますが）で、アメリカの株価は引き続き安定するだろうと話していました。この安定要因として挙げられていた、アメリカ株式市場の成熟性（個人投資家の多さ）と資金の潤沢さ（各個人が自分の資金を運用）の部分は、日本の株式市場にないものだと思います。しかし、これらは近い将来変わっていくことでしょう。その要因はインターネットによる株式取引、つまりウェッブトレーダーの増加、そして４０１Ｋ導入による資金の株式市場への流入です。誰かが自分の老後を観てくれるのではなく、自分の老後の資金は働いているうちに自分で運用して稼いでおきなさい、ということになるでしょう。
これら二つのニュースで感じたキーワードは「自己責任」です。誰かが（国や会社）ではなく、自分で生活を守っていくようにサラリーマンもなっていくのでしょう。
近所のデパートで武豊展というイベントをやっていまして、無料でしたので少し覗いてみました。私は競馬も好きなので、以前から府中にはたびたび足を運んでいます。
そのイベントで目を引いたのは、武豊騎手が勝ったＧ１のトロフィーです。競馬がお好きな方はおわかりになると思いますが、表彰式で持っている高さ２０ｃｍくらいのものですね。展示されていたのはエアグルーブの天皇賞、スペシャルウィークのダービー、ダンスパートナーのオークス、そしてスキーパラダイスのムーラン・ド・ロンシャン賞のトロフィーでした。
そのトロフィー自体は何千万円もするものではないのでしょうが、そこに刻まれている名誉は金額に置き換えられるものではないと思います。比較の対象にならないかもしれませんが、英検１級もそれそのものが職業や報酬を保証するものでは基本的にはないとしても、それを合格された方のご努力は賞賛に値するはずだと思います。
今年の箱根駅伝は、順大の追撃をかわして駒大が初優勝しました。駒大は大八木コーチが指導をするようになってから急速に力をつけてきました。確かに優秀な選手が多くいるのでしょうが、彼の指導力がその強化に寄与していることは言うまでもないでしょう。
それにしても箱根は正月の一大イベントになりましたね。冷静に考えてみれば、伊勢の全日本の方が全国大会でグレードが高く、箱根は関東ローカル大会なんでしょうけど。（関西ではテレビで箱根をやってるんでしょうか？）やはりテレビというメディアの力はすごいと思います。
大学スポーツの栄枯盛衰というものも箱根を見ていると感じます。私が学生の頃はラグビーが最も人気があったように記憶していますが（あくまでも個人的な感想、ですけど）、箱根を日テレが完全中継するようになってからは、箱根が最もポピュラーになったように感じます。ロードとスタジアム、無料観戦と有料観戦という違いはありますが、その観客数から言って箱根を上回るスポーツイベントは日本にないような気がします。
今年の箱根は繰り上げスタート校も少なく、また最後には繰り上げスタートした関東学院が拓大をかわし、優勝候補の神大と山梨学院がシードぎりぎりでゴールするなど、上位校と下位校の差が少なくなっていました。来年もいいレースを観たいな、と思います。
一年の計は元旦にあり、とも言いますが、お正月というのは一年の目標を立てるのにとてもいい機会ですね。
さてそこで今年の目標は？ということになるわけで、本来であればここで「英検１級合格」というふうになるべきなのでしょうが、今般の状況から言ってなかなか英語の勉強に時間を割けそうにないので、「不合格Ａ判定の継続」を目標にしたいと思います。
今年の目標がこれだけでは寂しいので、「ＵＳＡへ一回は行く」ことを目標にしたいですね。英語学習を再開してからまだ一回も海外に行っていないので、私の英語力がどれだけまだへなちょこか実感できてないんですよねー。
