　米国商務長官に日系アメリカ人のミネタ氏が任命される、というニュースが入りました。今後上院の承認を経て正式に就任が決まるということです。政治的背景はどうあれ、日系の方が閣僚になることは非常に喜ばしいことだと思います。氏は第二次大戦中、ワイオミングの日系米人強制収容所に強制収容された経験をお持ちになっていらっしゃっています。
　非常に保守的な部分のある米国社会でアジア人が生き抜いていくのは、たいへんな部分もあるかと思います。そうした意味で今回のミネタ氏の抜擢は私のようなへたれ日本人に元気を与えてくれます。

　日経ビジネスで「日本の学力を考える」というシリーズをやっていましたが、その第二回は「日本人に英語は必要か？」というテーマでした。小学校で英語が教科として取り入れられるとも聞きましたが、そうした中で非常に興味深いコメントを国立民族博物館顧問の梅棹忠夫氏とオリックス会長の宮内義彦氏がしています。
特に宮内氏の考えは一聴に値します。宮内氏の発言は以下のようなものです。
・言葉というのは民族、文化のアイデンティティーの根幹を成す一つだから、英語を話す前に日本語を大切にしようよ、と言いたい。国際派の人材になるなら日本語を大切にすべき。もし日本の子供たちが英語がうまくなったら、日本的な思考方法、文化は消えていくだろう。そして日本人という二流英語国民が生まれるだけ。決して一流にはなり得ない。
・日本人が学校で習っている英語の語彙、英文法、読み書きとも今のレベルで十分。そこから「自分は国際的に活躍したい。」と思う人がさらに英語力を伸ばせばいい。そんなに英語ばかり勉強する暇があったら他のことを勉強する時間に振り向けた方がいい。
・例えばわが社に入った人間に３人に一人は国際的な仕事をしてもらうとする。その中で「俺がその一人になる。」と思う人が外国語を懸命に勉強すればいい。不動産鑑定士になる方が仕事が進めやすいと思う人はそちらの勉強をすべき。
・結局、いかに「志」を持たせるかだ。国際的に頑張りたいのなら確かに日本語だけでは不十分だ。世界に羽ばたく仕事をするには英語なりフランス語を自分で学んでいく。「志」のない者に英語を詰め込んでも無駄だ。
・「朝会社に来たらおはようございますと言いなさい」とか、電話のかけ方まで教えてやらねば働かない学生を、何度も面接を重ねて大量に囲い込む必要はない。私も会社では新卒採用なんかいらない、と言っている。優秀な人材はマーケットから採用すればいい。
・今の学校教育の欠陥は「結果平等」という幻想を皆に植えつけていることだとも思う。社会に生きる人間として基本的に必要なことがあるはず。君たちが努力しないとこうなるぞ、悪いことをするとこうなるぞ、助け合わないといけないよ、ときっちり教える。そんなことすらわからない子供たちが英語だけ話せるようになったら、日本人はどんなに幼稚で未熟かと世界に知らしめるようなものだ。
・keep an eye on；if you keep an eye for something,you monitor it or keep up with it.
・running a campaign；is planning it and carrying it out.You could say carrying out a campaign.
・homemaker；is usually a wife or a mother,but recently occasionally men stay home and become homemakers,although I think they are usually called house husband or stay at home dad.
・drinking a lot of water；They also say drink plenty of fluids,if you have a cold.
・lots of liquids；and definitely Mann is talking about different kinds of fluids or liquids that you can drink,another place you often see these two words is in physics talking about the three words of matter,liquid,fluid and gas and solid.
・risk factors；There are all kinds of risk factors involved in health problems especially cancer or maybe cancer's risk factors are are known better,because they've been studied a lot.Renoir mentions age and smoking,but I think also your cultural background which builds up some of the habits you have and your generating makeup can be a big factors in how far your risk is for developing different diseases.
・on the down slope；something that's on the down slope is becoming smaller or less common.
・I think maybe if someone said that,it might be because they are talking to an immigrant and want to convince to them to act more like Americans,but still make it clear you're an immigrant,you don't fit in here.

　6月27日付日経流通新聞によりますと、英検および国連英検がビジネスマン受験増加策に力を入れ始めたということです。具体的には、上級コースの試験回数拡大や企業に対するPR活動に取り組むとのこと。社員が団体で受験する企業の増加でTOEICの受験者数が増加の一途を辿っていることに対抗しようとしているらしいです。特に英検は、2001年度から１級・準1級につき試験回数を年３回とし、出題についてもビジネスマンになじみ深い内容とするよう工夫し始めたそうです。(今回の英検の出題は、どうでした？皆さん）英検の受験者は80％が中高生で、97年度から２年連続で減少。これに対し、TOEICはビジネスマン受験者の増加で99年度の受験者数が対95年比1.5倍となり、2000年度は初めて100万人を突破する見通し、と結んでいます。
　TOEIC、英検とも英語の試験ですが、その対象とする受験者(マーケット)は若干異なる、と私も感じます。なぜならTOEICについては社員が入社時に受けさせられたり、昇進の際スコアを要求されたりして、既に企業の中に取り込まれている部分が英検に対して大きいと思うからです。

・punch out；if you punch out a message,you make your message strong and clean,and you repeat it again and again.
・outreach people；are people who have wide contact in the community and they agree also to help,bring other messages besides the regular work to the people they contact with.
・crusade；is a righteous battle against something that's wrong.So the crusade against breast cancer would be a strong fight to try to correct the problem of breast cancer.
・fight the good fight；if you fight the good fight,you're working for good cause,usually fighting is kind of a negative thing,but if you're battling against something evil,then it's a good fight.
・stand out；This time Leonard says Rollback really stands out,he could've described it by using the adjective outstanding, Rollback is really outstanding.Outstanding always has a positive meaning,stand out tends to be positive,when you use the verb form,but something could stand out,because it's so bad.
・on the front line；being on the front line means you're where the actual fighting.This phrase,I think,comes from military,especially armys are large and have a large support system that actual fighting occurs only on the front line.
・raise the roof；if you raise the roof,you speak or act loudly,it could be loud in voice stress and a happy kind of loudness or could be with anger.
・toss off；something that tossed off like an often thought is something that is probably not important,it's just added on without any special consideration.
・tap into；if you tap into something,you take advantage of it,you open up the tap,so that you too can receive the benefit or the information or the energy.
・see the light；if you see the light you understand or sometimes it means you've been convinced.

　今日は久々にプロ野球を観戦しにいくことになっていましたが、あえなく中止。いやあ、残念です。
　プロ野球と言えば、来年もセ・パ交流戦はセントラルの反対で実現せず、ゲーム数だけが140試合に増えることになりました。「人気のないパリーグのチームとゲームをしても儲からない。みすみす儲かる巨人戦をパにくれてやることはない。」というのがセリーグ各チームの言い分のようです。セ・パの意見の対立に際してはコミッショナーが裁定をおこなうわけですが、交流試合は先送り、「波風の立つことは後回し。現体制を維持。」ということになったようです。「松坂VS松井」「イチローVS上原」など公式戦で見てみたい真剣勝負はファンに提供されずじまい。「クレメンスVSピアザ」が見られるか彼の地がうらやましいですね。

・outstanding；First Mann mentions the outstanding aspect od rollback,outstanding is used in English almost always to mean very very good,although the basic meaning of it is noticiable.
・sounds the alerm；she also mentions that sounds the alerm,she means that this program tells people and warns people or makes them aware of something that they need.
・opens the door to；and finally she says the program opens the door to services for many women,open the door to something usually means allows or makes possible.
・on the whole；usually means generally or overall,there might be exceptions,but the exceptions are not so important.
・a checkup；is the physical exam or a health check,although in US I think people usually say a checkup or annual checkup.
・a mixed signal；is the mixed up message,it's a message that some clear,I think maybe it comes from broadcasting or radio,sometimes if you can tune in the braodcast band you want to listen to,you get two different radio stations and it's completely mixed up,you can't make sense either one.

　最近では会社のプレゼンを全部MS Power Pointでつくってるんですが、非常に楽ですね。WEBページやスキャナで読み込んだ資料も気楽に使えるので、いちいち会計基準の説明や商法改正の情報なども自分で作成することもないですし。もちろんアニメーションの設定に気をとられて、肝心の内容がうすくならないようにしなくてはなりませんけど。
・get through；the phrase I got through usually means something with difficult or didn't go very well,but at least over.
・do look；Hiromi adds do this sentence to strengthen the meaning of how clear it is that she's distracted.
・What's up?；is very common way to ask people you know fairly well,what are they doing? or What's happened?
・bottle it up；if you bottle it up,feelings or emotions you hide them in yourself and don't express them to other people,it's usually considered not good thing to do in US.
・lend a sympathetic ear；it sounds like,lend an ear,pretty much the same thing in Japanese,listen carefully to someone,but adding sympathetic to this,ears,of course,aren't sympathetic,but the feeling of listeners toward the speaker would be sympathetic.
・makes a house call；making a house call means going to your house to bring some sort of service,in the past,with doctors especially who are famous for making house calls,but I think the custom died out in the 60s in US,it's just too expensive,it takes too much time for doctors to travel to the patience.
・skin-care consultant；probably a kind of sales woman who also has the extra service for cusomers.
・How advanced is it?；usually in the case of cancer,we describe it as advanced or at the beginning stages in stead of thing progress,I think it's because cancers tend to follow a regular path way as they develop and grow and spread,so it's easy to see how far has it moved long that path.
・radical surgery；is very serious large scale surgery.Usually in English,we talk about surgery as being monor,which often means we don't even need to stay in the hospital or maybe just one over night stay.Major surgery which is maybe routine,but still would be fairly dangerous,and then radical surgery,which is the most dangerous and causes the most change and trouble perhaps with your body.
・you can't help worrying；the phrase you can't help doing something,a verb plus ing type,form is often used to describe something that you can't stop,there is no way to control it.
・rollback；if you roll something back,you not only stop the progress,but you make it retreat.

　昨日、今日と伊豆に一泊でゴルフに行ってきました。二日間でワンハーフ回りましたが、金曜日にナイターでサッカーをやったこともあり(＆土曜夜のビール）、さすがに疲れました。スコアも土曜日はともかく、日曜日はティーショットはまずまずだったものの、寄せとパットが全然ダメ(というか実力通り？)でスコアも悲惨でした。しかしゴルフってなかなかうまくなりません。練習なしの本番っていうのもよくないのでしょうが、コンスタントにコースを回ってないとやはりダメでしょうね。

2000/6/24

　衆議院の総選挙とともに、最高裁裁判官の国民審査もおこなわれますが、これほど有名無実化しているものもないですね。国民のほとんどがリストアップされている裁判官の名前を投票所に行って初めて見るのだろうし、ましてや彼らが判決においてどのような意見を述べたかなんて知らないと思います。せっかく存在するシステムなのですから活かすべきだとは思いますけど・・・。
　「三審制度」という言葉は何となく知っている方が多いとは思いますが、最高裁がどのような訴訟を扱っているかはなかなか知られていないと感じます。昔私が学生(一応、法学部)だった頃と現在では民訴も改正されています。(新312条など)
　一般的に下級審の判決を不服として上級裁判所に提訴することを「上訴」といいますが、この「上訴」には
1.控訴－一審判決を不服として争う。事実審と法律審。
2.上告－二審判決を不服として争われる。法律審のみ。
3.抗告－判決ではなく、命令や決定に関して争われる。
があり、最高裁が関連するケースがあるのは上告と抗告になります。特に上告に関しては、法律審のみという制限があったのですが、二審判決を不服とする当事者が二審で確定すべき事実認定につき「訴訟法上の信義則違反」と法律構成し直した上で、旧民訴394条にいう「法律違背」として上告するケースが見られたようで、これに対し最高裁の本来の機能を発揮させるために、法律改正がおこなわれています。主なところは次の通りです。
・上告理由の制限(民訴312条)　憲法違反と絶対的上告理由のみ
・上告受理制度の創設(民訴318条)　法令違反については、最高裁判所の判例と相反する判断がある事件等につき、当事者が最高裁判所に対して事件の受理を申し立て、最高裁判所が受理の判断を行う。
・許可抗告制度の創設(民訴336条)　最高裁判所の判例と相反する判断がある等の高等裁判所の決定、命令につき、高等裁判所が最高裁判所への抗告を許可する。
　最高裁では上告を理由がないと認める場合には、口頭弁論を経ないで判決で上告を棄却(民訴319条)します。審理の後、原判決に憲法の解釈の誤りがあることその他の憲法違反がある場合(民訴312条)また民訴312条に規定する事由がない場合でも判決に影響を及ぼすことが明らかな法令違反があるときは原判決を破棄し、原裁判所に差し戻し(民訴325条)もしくは自判(民訴326条)ということになります。それらの憲法・法律違反がない場合は上告を棄却します。
　今日は民訴だけ(刑訴は別）触れてみましたが、国民審査を考える入口で、こんな知識も持っていた方がいいかなと思います。

　語彙を増やすことは外国語を学ぶ上でとても大切なことだと思います。いくら英語ができるようになったとしても、知らない単語なんかない、なんてことが言えることがあるのでしょうか。むしろ、常に未知の単語との出会いがあるのが普通のような気がします。私のような稚拙な英語力しかない人間が言う資格はないかもしれませんが。
　以前英検１級を受験したときに、私は語彙パートに出てくる語彙の多くを知りませんでした。自分が英語に割いている時間を考えれば当然の帰結です。何しろやさビジの解説だけ(?)聞いてるだけですから。原因は単なる努力不足ですね。だから英検の語彙パートの問題の質をどうのこうの言う資格はじぇーんじぇんないわけです。（文字通り無資格安サラリーマン・・・）
　ただ・・・、もし私が英検の語彙パートの問題を作成するとしたら、かなり悩むだろうなあと思います。「この辺でいいかぁ。」なんて態度で作成するには、受験者の方々のレベルが高すぎる試験です。英検の問題作成を難しくしている(実際はどうかわかりませんが)一つの要因は受験者層が非常に幅広いことだと思います。年代・職業のどうした層に焦点を絞っていくかによって、1級保持者として(この１級というのがどういう基準か漠然としているのも難しくさせている原因なのでしょうが）知るべき語彙を抽出していくことが通常のアプローチなんでしょう。ただ現状ではそうはいかないわけですから、最大公約数の部分を要求していくしかないんでしょうけど、通り一遍の語彙では合格者と不合格者の差がつけられないでしょうし。
　よくNYTIMESやWSJを読みこなす能力、と言われることがありますが、これって記事の内容によっても左右されると思います。これは日本語に置き換えて考えれば、日経を読みこなす能力ということになるんでしょうけど、果たしてどれくらいの日本人が日経を読みこなしているんでしょうか？よく言われる大卒レベル(アメリカの、日本は別）という漠然とした基準から考えれば、日経は読みこなす能力があって当然なのでしょうか？例えば先日の日経でこんな感じの記事がありました。

　「日本経済新聞社が主要企業２５０社について、退職給付債務を調査したところ、支払いに備えて積み立ててある資産が必要額に対して約１０兆円不足していることが明らかになった。調査では積み立て不足を今後どう処理するかも聞いた。それによると、全体の７割強にあたる１７７社が、処理費用の特別損失への計上が認められる５年以内に一掃する計画であることがわかった。すでに３１社は２０００年３月期に前倒しで積み立て不足を一括処理しており、今年度に処理を済ませると答えた企業も９３社ある。」

　これを読みこなすには少なくとも語彙がわからなくてはならないわけですが、「１級」だとしたらわかって当然なのでしょう。でもこの記事、かなり記者の方も苦労して書かれていると思います。この記事をすらすらっと読んで、「???」と感じられなければ理解したと言えないと思うんです。この記事をよりはっきり書くとしたらこんな感じですかねぇ。

　「日経が退職給付債務について主要250社にアンケートを取ったところ、退職給付会計基準変更時差異（と思われる。）が約10兆円にのぼった。会計基準変更時差異についての今後の処理方法に関しては、５年以内に処理すれば特別勘定で処理することが可能とされたため、経常損益を重視する日本の経営慣行の影響もあってか、多くの会社が５年以内に償却することにしている。」

　実は「と思われる」と付け加えたのは「支払いに備えて積み立ててある資産が必要額に対して約１０兆円不足」という文章の中の「資産」という部分が、年金資産（但し年金制度を導入している会社に限る）なのか従前の退職給与引当金なのか、それとも両方なのかはっきりしないという点があることと、「必要額」が退職給付債務という意味で使われているのかどうかという疑念があるからなのですが、おそらく上に書いたような意味で記者は記事を書いたと思います。(会計基準変更時差異＝退職給付債務－（計上済退職給与引当金＋年金資産の公正な評価額））また退職給付債務とは何ぞや？ということはここに書いてない（というかそれは読む方が理解しているという前提）ので、その概念がしっかり理解されていないとこの記事を読みこなせたとは言えないという感じがします。
　実際に企業で数字を扱っているような部署にいる方にとっては、上に書いたようなことは基本中の基本の知識なのですが、そうした部署で働いていない方にとってはよくわからないことも多いかと思います。大卒レベルといっても、経済系や法学系、文学系に理工系もあってそれぞれ分化しているわけですし。このように考えてくると、日本語でさえその人が関連する分野が異なれば、その語彙に対する理解度も異なってくるということが言えそうで、そのことから「日経を読みこなす」という基準を一元的には決められないように感じます。ましてやWSJを読みこなすというのは・・・。
　私はWSJなどを読み、理解するという能力はすばらしいと思いますし、またそのような英語力を目標にしたいと思います。翻って英検の語彙の問題を眺めてみると（といいつつ'97の第一回しか見てませんが）、そこまでの語彙力は要求していないように感じますね。言葉というのは意思伝達手段である以上、アカデミックな語学そのものに対する知識よりも、実際にはその言葉を使う知識であるとか情報を人々に要求している場面が多いんじゃないかと感じます。ちなみに先ほど例にあげた日経の記事でも言語そのものの知識よりは、会計知識を要求しているわけです。一つの言葉が、その人の職業や専攻によって理解の難易度が異なる、ということのいい例でしょう。
　そう考えてくると英検１級で要求すべき語彙能力というのは、各専門に分化していく前の共通認識として必要最低限の語彙能力であると言ってもいいんじゃないでしょうか（私見）。後はそのレベルをどこに持っていくべきか、ということがポイントで。だから必要以上に難解な語彙を出題しても日本人の英語能力のバランスのとれた向上は図れないように思います。「文科系と理科系という区分をするのは意味がない。知的好奇心に支えられた幅広い教養が必要だ。」ということはいえると思いますが、そのportalとして英検1級が利用されるのであれば非常に有意義なことだと思います。そういう視点で語彙問題をとらえていくことが必要ではないでしょうか。
　ま、つまるところ、このくらいの問題（１級の語彙パート）が解けるくらい１級受験者であれば英語の勉強に時間を割きなさい、ということなんでしょうね。万人にそれを要求するかどうかは別として。

　長らく映画を見に行ってなかったのですが、今日は久々に映画館に足を運びました。観た映画は「アメリカンビューティ」（古い？）。全体としては何となく以前観たマグノリアと同じ系統の話のように感じました。ネイティブによれば、「皆がノーマルなようでいて、一人一人変わった人生を歩んでいる。だから他人から見れば一種独特のように感じられる人生もまたノーマルな人生でもあり得る。って感じかな。最後の隣のおじさんにケビンスペイシーが銃で撃たれるのは、自分の秘密（ゲイであること）を知られ、それが知られた相手と共有できなかった時の悲劇。奥さんはケビンスペイシーを殺そうと家に帰ってきたんだけど、これもケビンスペイシーにハンバーガーショップで見られたこと（詳しくは映画をご覧ください）に関して、自分のプライドが許さなかったこととケビンスペイシーに対する愛情からのこと。でもちょっと難しい映画だね。」ということでした。
　マグノリアにしてもアメリカンビューティにしても現代のアメリカの市民生活を象徴的に淡々と語っているとすれば、皆が「自分が幸せか？」ということを自問自答し、答えがなかなか見つからないことに当惑を感じている、そんな感想をもたせてくれますね。
・burden；something that's a burden is heavy,causes you a trouble.It could be a physical thing that you have to carry,but I think now more often this word is used for responsibilities or worries.
・happy-hour；in the US,is usually between 5 and 7 o'clock actually,it's two hours although,everybody calls it happy-hour,it's usually when people get off work,maybe have a quick drink with their colleagues before going home.A lot of bars and lounges have reduced rates on drinks for two hours.
・groundwork；is a kind of preparation.
・do with some of that；Liu mentions that he could do with some of that,do with usually means use,but it also includes the idea want to use it.
・uptight；if you're uptight,you're tense or maybe worry,a little of suspicious of an idea or a thing.
・go overboard；if you go overboard,you go too far,you go over the top,or you could even say you overdo it.
・goofing off；is another phrase that refers to not doing anything specific or not working to reach some sort of a goal,it's a little bit different from lazing around.Lazing around is usually when you have some time when you're enjoying ourself,not working,goofing off,usually you should be working.
・fun and games；it often refers to not being serious,not taking your responsibilities seriously.

　今日のやさビジにfocus group、グループディスカッションのことがでてきました。これはマーケッティングでよく使われる手法で、例えば女性用の商品の開発や販促にあたって、ターゲットになる女性に集まってもらってフリーディスカッションでデータを集める手法ですね。よく言われることは、司会者が非常に重要だということです。つまり、集まってもらった人たちはその商品のターゲットとなる世代・性別の人たちなんですが、その中でもいろいろな人がいると。ですから個人個人で特徴があるわけですよね、おとなしい人とかよく話してくれる人とか。そうしたいろいろな性格の人から情報を引き出すためには、司会者もうまくあわせていく必要があるでしょう。もちろん、何のためにグループディスカッションをやるのか、ねらいがしっかりしているのはそれ以前のことのようですけど。
・satisfice；is a kind of funny word,I think,people who know what that means understand it's supposed to be more efficient or find it kind of amusing even,but people who haven't heard this before will probably be only puzzled by it.
・figure；and this sounds also you could hear Mann's british accent when she says fi[gjァr] except she says fi[gァr] .(←すみません,文字化けしちゃってます。)
・B or C；and here too,B or C is referring back to the kind of grading system that's used commonly in US.A is the best,B is good,C is usually satisfactory good enough.
・focus groups；are usually within the companies anyway,groups of employees who are brought together to discuss a specific issue or problem,they probably aren't expected to solve the problem,but by discussing it together,they should find all kinds of new alternatives and possibilities.
・bare；something that's bare is unclosed or uncovered,so it strengthens the meaning of minimum,minimum is,of course,least possible,it's bare also even more minimum.

　空港のことを考えていて思ったのですが、私も含めて、外国から人を迎えるという視点であまりものを考えないな、と。自分たちが外国へ旅行に行くことばかり考えずに、外国人が日本に来やすいかどうか、という視点でものを考える必要性もあるんじゃないでしょうか。
　幸いにして今まで日本人は、個人レベルでは日本の中だけで暮らしていくことができてきました。（もちろん、広義では外国に依存する割合が高いわけですが）そのため英語を話せなくても通っていましたし、外国へ行ったりもしくは外国から人を迎えたりする必要性が比較的少なかったと言えるのではないでしょうか。もっと端的に言えば、外国へ出稼ぎに行く必要もなかったですし、国際中継貿易のハブとしての機能を世界にアピールする必要性も比較的低かったと思います。
　でもこれからはどうでしょうか？インフラの問題は１年や２年で解決できるものではないにしろ、その１年２年が国際的にどれだけ重い意味を持っているかは、時間が教えてくれることでしょう。
・relax over dinner；In the US,lots of people like to use dinner time for relaxing and talking with friends and family,one of the purposes of eating together is to enjoy the time.
・multitasking；is a kind of interesting,fairly new word,I think,multi means multiple and many,and task means jobs or things you have to do and then it turned into a participle with the ing,multitasking is a kind of interesting word for me.
・I think,in the past,when I was growing up anyway,my parents would tell me not to do things at once,you can do either one very well,but I guess people are learning how to handle things differently.
・around-the clock；means 24 hours,I think it comes from the old analog clocks,I guess I shouldn't say old,it comes from analog clocks where the hands would sweep all the way around the face.

　皆さんのBBSでのご発言を読ませていただくと、今回の英検は前回よりも若干難しめだったようですね。ただ英検はある程度相対評価なわけですから、多少得点が足りないな、と感じても合格している可能性は残っているのではないでしょうか（私見）。ですので「ボーダーライン上かな。」と思われている方は二次対策を開始されることをお勧めします。
・put in on；if you put in time on a project or job,you devote some time to it or you use some time to take care of it.If you think of time as another resource,it's adding,putting in another resource.
・half-hour；I probably say a half-hour lunch break or if I use half an hour,I change the sentence slightly and say.I usually use half an hour for lunch.

　前期のNTT東日本の決算は567億円の経常黒字（！）なんだそうで、当初の赤字決算見通しから一転して黒字見通し、かつ百億円単位！売上げが膨大だとはいいつつも、実務上決算予想で相当精査している私のような安サラリーマンには考えられないような（上場企業では何％決算見通しがずれれば修正見通しを発表しなければならないかも考えあわせれば）数字です。
　また、世界的なIT革命の流れに日本はもはや取り残されてしまったようです。お隣の韓国にも抜かれてしまっているのでは？

　ネットの利点というのは、距離的な隔たりをなくすところにもあると思うのですが、NTTでは定額IP接続可能な地域を政令指定都市のみに限定しておこなうようです。
　結局のところ市場にNTTというガリバーのみが存在して後はニッチャーでしかないというところに問題があるのではないでしょうか。家電市場のように（ちょっとこの例は古いかもしれませんが）リーダー（松下）チャレンジャー（ソニー）フォロワー（サンヨー）ニッチャー（その他ある分野に限定して強みがある企業）のような状況であれば、若干違ってくるとは思いますが。そのガリバーを崩すのはお得意の外圧（US）というやつで、そのおけげで国民に利益がまわってくるというか・・・。
　以前タイに行って驚いたのは、タイでもかなりの田舎に行っても衛星放送受信用のパラボラアンテナが家庭に設置されていることでした。おそらく日本式のアンテナを設置してもそこに電波が届くようなTV放送電波発信基地がなかなかできづらかったのではないかと想像しますが、今の技術であればそうした基地の必要性がなくなっているのでしょう。チェンマイあたりの都会に行けば、街角の屋台で皆セリエＡを見ています。ASDLあたりを進めるのであれば無線の技術にもっと真剣に取り組んで欲しいです。インフラ整備は最低限のもの、大切なのはコンテンツなんだから、でもコンテンツの質を上げるためにはインフラ整備は欠かせない・・・。

　日本で大学や高校の英語教師をしているネイティブは多いわけですが、誤解をまねかないという基準で考えた場合、いろいろな問題があることもあるようです。
　ある日のこと、知り合いのネイティブが生徒にこう聞かれたそうです。
「あの～、○○先生（ネイティブ）が『30歳以下で独身の女性の場合Miss.、それ以外Mrs.をつけて呼ぶ』って言うんですけど、本当ですか？」
「30歳以下ぁ？なんてこと言うの！Miss.とMrs.の区分は結婚しているかいないかだけど、女性のことはMrs.でもなくMiss.でもなく、Ms.をつけて呼ぶべきよ。その人のことをよく知っているとか親しい場合は別として、そうした区別をするのはdiscriminationであるととられる場合が多い。特にオフィスでは気をつけるべきね。」
　早速彼女はその○○先生（２人ともアメリカ人）のところに行き文句をつけたそうですが、そうしたら逆に
「あんたは授業でBritish Englishも教えてるだろ？そんなのやる必要ないぜ。American Englishだけ教えときゃいいんだよ。」
「Bristishがoriginalなのよ。American Englishは一種のdialectじゃない。たしかに社会に出たらAmericanを遣う場面が多いかもしれないけど、若いうちにoriginalも学んでおく必要があるわ。あんたはEnglishのマスターも取得してないじゃない！」
　英語に対する考え方は先生によっていろいろあると思いますが、（学生ではありませんが）私のような英語未熟者にはできるだけ間違っていない英語を教えてほしいものです。

　東京－大阪間の航空シャトル便化が実現の方向へ動いていますね。現在新幹線VSAirの東京－大阪間旅客輸送のシェアは、大雑把に言って８：２なんだそうです。ちなみに東京－広島で５：５、東京－福岡で１：９と距離が広がるにつれてAirのシェアが高くなっているようです。
　現在第三種空港の位置付けで静岡空港の計画が進められていますが、これが実現すれば超過密離発着に悩む、成田・羽田を補完する首都圏第三空港の位置付けの可能性もあります。ちなみに静岡空港の直下には新幹線が走っており、東京－静岡が新幹線で１時間ですので、空港駅ができた場合、東京駅から１時間強で乗り継ぎが可能になります。
　静岡県民にとっても東名ICからわずかの距離にある新空港は、ドライブで家から空港までドアtoドアの移動が可能になり、電車に乗ることさえ不便な静岡の人にとっては（県内を横断して走る鉄道はなんと東海道線のみ。東京－横浜間に総武・横須賀線快速しか走っていないような感じ。）海外までの時間距離が大幅に短縮されることになります。

　これはサラリーマン社会だけでなく、今の日本の社会全体に言えることかもしれませんが、「二番手になろう」としている人があまりに多いのではないでしょうか。つまり、言い替えると、最初にリスクを背負って強力なリーダーシップを発揮しようとしたり変革を進めようとすると、批判をされ嫌なことを押しつけられてしまい、一方、うまく二番手になった人が批判を避け得をするような感じがするんです。これが会社、いや社会全体の閉塞感につながっているんじゃないかという気がします。「誰か言ってくれないかな。自分が言うと損するしなあ。」という意識がどこかにあって、内輪では文句を言うものの、それを言うべき相手に表明することが必ずしも個人的には得策ではないと思っている人が多いんじゃないでしょうか。
　これはある経営コンサルの話。ある大手企業で「会社の経営理念」や「ビジョン」をつくるにあたって、こう質問されたそうです。「（同業の）他社はどういう風につくってますかねぇ？」・・・
「経営理念というのは、あなた（御社）がどう考えるかであって、同業であってもシェアや社風が異なる他社の真似をしてもしょうがないでしょ。」
確かに「私、好きな食べ物は何か答えなきゃならないんですが、スズキさんは何が好きなんですかねぇ？」なあんて聞く人なんかいませんよね。参考にすべき（OR研究・対抗すべき）なのは、実際の市場における商品やその販売方法等であって、経営ビジョンではないはずだと思います。
　まだまだ私も含めて、「他人の真似をしておけば大丈夫だ。」とか「自ら行動するよりは他人についていった方が楽だ。」という意識が自分のどこかにある場合も多いのではないかと思います。基本線の部分について自分で考え、行動するということはとても厳しいし、難しいことですが、あまりにも自ら考えると言うことを放棄してしまってもいいのかな、と感じます。

・photo；In English,you could say snapshot,but that's a sort of unposed picture that you were lucky to take,only snap also will work in English.
・acres and acres；repeating acres,of course,intensifying the meaning and makes the area,the land area that will lose all its flowers,sands very large.

　今日は私のアメリカ人の友人が誕生日ということで、男２人で寂しく？飲みにいきました。せっかくですので、彼が好きなジャズでも聞きに行こうと思い、以前行ったことのある六本木のジャズクラブか、青山のブルーノート（でも奴はブルーノートは好きじゃないらしい。）にでも連れていこうと思ったのですが、奴が遅刻野郎だったのでそこまで行くのが面倒くさくなり、待ち合わせした銀座のジャズクラブに行きました。
　NYにはもちろん多くのジャズクラブがあるわけですが、聞くところによるとテーブルチャージと飲み代を含めて３０Bucksくらいだそうです。日本の場合はプレイヤーのチャージが最低2,500円くらいはしますし、お通しもかかりますから、最低でも6,000円くらいは覚悟しなくてはならないと思うんですが。
　さて今日のアーティストは期待に反しジャズではなくLatinだったのですが、私も彼もLatin Musicは好きですし、パフォーマンスも質の高いもので満足しました。Latinは特に自由に楽しめる音楽ですから、常連さんたちと一緒に声をかけたり手拍子したりして、なかなか盛り上がりました。プレーヤーも「満員でもシーンとしてることがあるんですが、こんなに少人数で盛り上げてくれてうれしい。」と言ってくれ、彼にとっても楽しい誕生日パーティになったと思います。

If one person makes a motion, which means suggest something, usually someone has to second it or support it before the group can vote on it.If you're interested in more of the specialized language, phrases and things like that that people use in formal meetings, especially meetings where there's discussion or debate and the organizer wants to be sure that everyone has a fair chance to have their say, look for a book called Robert's Rules of Order. It was written a couple of hundred years ago, I believe. And it's kind of a basis for all kinds of clubs and other kinds of meetings.

　後もう少しで英検ですが、皆さんいかがでしょうか？今回は私はパスしてしまいましたが、今回受験される方々、がんばってくださいね。陰ながら応援しています。
　私の経験上（といってもほとんど経験がない、と言ってもいいほどですが）やはり席のポジションは前の方がいいと思います。何せあの前時代的なモノラルのラジカセでは、後ろの方ではよく聞き取れません。特に普段、ディスクマンやＭＤウォークマンでクリアな音を聞いている方は要注意です。英検のリスニングではあの懐かしいテープノイズを堪能？することができますから。
　また、地方によっては高校や大学で受験される方もいらっしゃることでしょう。特に高校ではクラブ活動がおこなわれている可能性もあり、高校生の元気な声や野球部のバッティングの音にリスニングの音がかき消されてしまう可能性があります。
　以上のことは以前受験されたことのある方なら経験済みかと思います。それにしてもリスニングのコンディションについては何とかしてほしいですね。冷房を完備させてよ、なんて贅沢は言いませんから。

・direct your feet to the travel agency；if you direct your feet to somewhere,you do somewhere,it's kind of a cute way to say go someplace.

　今日の日経夕刊一面に登場している、グローバルダイニング社の長谷川社長ですが、以前その経営スタイルをテレビ番組「スーパーテレビ」で取り上げていました。年功序列からの徹底的な脱却、徹底した実力主義、支店（店）のマネジメントの完全委任、社内意思決定機関におけるメンバー一人一人の意見の公平化など、従来日本の企業の特徴とされてきたポイントをことごとく転換する様は、一種の清涼感さえも感じました。今回の記事でも「フェア」「正義」「民主主義」といったキーワードを挙げ、売上や収入にこだわるのは、最も透明で情実の絡まない物差しだから、と語っています。結局「明確な客観性」が人事考課に関する不公平感の発生を阻み、仕事に対する姿勢において負のベクトルを生まないよう作用するんですね。

　マーケティングの勉強をしますと、クラウゼヴィッツの戦争論を応用したマーケ論を目にすることができます。このマーケ論では、戦争論で分類している「防御戦」「攻撃戦」「側面攻撃」「ゲリラ攻撃」の四つをマーケに当てはめ、その原則論を述べています。
　例えば「防御戦」の原則は①防御戦はあくまでそのマーケットのリーダーのみが考えるべき手段である。②最上の戦略は自ら攻撃するだけの勇気をもつことである、とあります。結果論になりますが、これをビール業界にあてはめるとよくわかります。
　かつてはビールのトップシェアはキリンが握り続けていました。キリンと言えば「ラガー」、いやビールと言えば「キリンラガー」の時代があったと思います。そうした中で、キリンではこの業界内のモンスター商品であり、キリンの主力商品であるこのラガーに対抗するような商品企画はやりづらかった（のではないでしょうか。）防御戦の原則から言えば、自社の主力商品をつぶすような対抗商品を開発しなければならなかったはずで、またそれが可能なのはマーケットリーダーであったキリンのみであったわけです。結果はご存じの通り、ドライを主力商品としたアサヒにしてやられた。アサヒは今、ドライの対極にあるアルコール低めのスーパーモルトを発売しています。
　この理論が万能ではないのかもしれませんが、言われているように、その商品が今力があるからといってそれを守りに入った途端、逆に足元をすくわれることにつながってしまうんですね。

　デパートなどの買い物の指数が伸びていないのに、クレジットカード利用は増えているんだそうです。昨年度のカード利用は、ショッピングが８．２％、キャッシングが５．５％増加し、特に３月のみを比較すると、今年は昨年比１０％以上の伸びなんだそうです。
　要因は、インターネットの接続料や携帯電話のの電話代、高速道路代などがカード引き落としになっている効果らしく、またカード会社としてもこうした生活に密着した支払いをカード引き落としに移行するよう力をいれているようです。例えば、ＪＣＢの「ネットプラス」では接続料金が最大５０％払い戻しになり、また、日本テレコム・ＤＤＩなどの市外通話料金が１６～２０％引きになるとのこと。
　今後はNICOSがネットショッピングのカードレス決済を開始するなど、B ｔｏ Cのe-commerceに関してもより積極的に展開していこうとしているようですが、セキュリティに関しての抵抗感がなくなればあっという間にe-commerceとカード決済はショッピングの主流になることが想像されますね。

　世界的な会計基準であるIASを決める組織は、IASC（国際会計基準委員会）ですが、そのIASCに対する影響力を米SECが強めているようです。IASCの組織改正は指名委員会が評議委員会を選出し、その評議委員会が基準を決める理事会を選ぶ、という体制なのだそうです。すでに指名委員会は発足しており、SECレビット委員長、世銀総裁、会計事務所デロイト・トウシュのトップ、独・仏・英・香港の証券監視当局の７人となり、日本はメンバーに加われませんでした。メンバーは全員親SEC派だとされています。評議委員会のメンバーもすでに決まったようですが、ルービン財務長官の名も事前に挙がっていたようです。
　日本企業は今会計ビッグバンで、BSに表現しなくてもよい、とされてきた部分をディスクローズする必要を迫られ、その影響は非常に大きいものがありますが、アメリカは既に国際会計システムを牛耳る手を打ち終わったと言えるようですね。

　都心回帰のトレンドはいろいろな方面で見られます。今朝の中探では大学の都心回帰が話題に上りました。都心から大学が郊外へ移転していったのはほんの数年前までの流れでしたが、「通うのに不便」な大学は今の若い人にとっては敬遠されがち（私の時代でも青学が厚木へ移転して人気が下がったような気がしますが）なのだそうです。中探ではその青学と中央大学が取り上げられていました。青学は厚木から相模原へ（って都心かぁ？というツッコミは別として）移転話があり、相模原市では大歓迎で「青学が来てくれるならモノレールも引きます。」みたいな話が持ち上がり、一方厚木市は「何とか残ってほしい。」と市を挙げて要請しているとか。中大は往年１位だった大学別司法試験合格者数が今では５位まで落ち込んでいるのだそうで、市ヶ谷に大学院をつくり（中大の大学院って多摩の方のキャンパスにあるんでしょうか？）、司法試験における不振を挽回しようとしているんだそうです。地価の低下がこのような都心回帰のトレンドの大きな要素でしょうが、結局人間、便利さには勝てない、といったところでしょうか。

・the newest twist；is usually a new way to do something.You've been doing any way.
・get-rich-quick；The phrase get-rich-quick often brings the negative connotation to whatever it's describing,because usually if you get-rich-quick,it's because of some kind of slightly illegal or shady action.
・tip my boys off；if you tip someone off on something,it usually means you give them some inside informationor some valuable information that maybe they've not heard before.
・way ahead of；if you're ahead of someone,you have advanced for beyond them.

　今日のニッポン放送「中探」でブルーベリーの効用が話されていました。パソコンの画面を眺めることが非常に多い昨今、眼を痛める人が増えており、眼の疲労回復に効果があるブルーベリーはすごい人気なのだそうです。５年前の市場規模は１億円だったそうですが、今ではその８倍の８億円だとか。ブルーベリーはおいしいから、食べるのに抵抗はないので、私も食べるようにしようかなあ、と思っています。

　私は英文学はあまり詳しくないのですが（かといって仏文や露文に明るいわけではない）、有名な四大悲劇「ハムレット」「オセロ」「リア王」「マクベス」そして「ロミオとジュリエット」の作者、シェイクスピアくらいは多少知っています。南房総丸山町にはそのシェイクスピアをテーマにした「シェイクスピア・カントリー・パーク」があります。今回南房ツアーでは団体行動（といってもおじさん８人ですが）中心だったので、残念ながら立ち寄れませんでしたが、ぜひ行ってみたいです。

・targeting ads with pinpoint accuracy；has become a very big topic the last few years,I think because of comuters companies can correct more and more clear data about consumers and customers and they can use the data more accurately so that advertisers and marketers can send information only to the people who are actually use it.It saves a lot of money and it helps not annoying other people who are not interested.
・fat fees；means a lot of money.
・hot；something is hot is very current,it's happening now and everyone is interested in
・clout；is often used in politics also for people have a lot of influence on politicians or political decisions.
・socko；something taht's socko is a smash or a great hit.
・tug at your heartstrings；something that tug at your heartstrings has a strong emotional appeal.
・big guys；in English,people fairly often talk about companies as if they are people,in this case Lou mentions the big guys,he means the big companies to big players.

　英会話つながりで知り合った皆さんとネイティブたちと飲み会を今まで何回もしており、今回もニューメンバーを迎えてカラオケ大会をしました。仕事・年齢がさまざまな集まりなので、いろいろおもしろいお話をきかせていただきます。英語というツールを通じて新たな人のつながりができたわけで、こういう機会は大切にしていきたいと思います。

・the dot-com ad craze；has been big news in US,just I think the last of year and a year and half,many people see many advertisement on TV and in the other media about new companies that are on line,that's the dot-com part.

・hotshot；is someone who is smart and quick and probably showing off,but for good reason.And then hotshots after try,at least,to teach their bosses some new tricks is prpbably based on idiom that teaching an old dog new tricks,you can't teach an old dog new tricks,it means older people already know everything or sometimes it's used to mean there are olds they can't learn new things.
・hilarious；is an adjective that means something is very very very funny.There are quite a few different words people often use in English to talk about something that's humorous,for example,amusing,funny,comic and hilarious is one of the strong ones.
・hit the mark；Lou uses the phrase this time hit the mark,it means be accurate,be exactly correct,earlier Sandi said hit the spot which also means correct or accurate but includes the strong feeling of satisfaction or scratching an itch.This phrase is always used with a very good meaning,it's never negative.
・stick like glue；There is a similar phrase,it sticks to your ribs,if you eat food,that's very satisfying and filling,you can say it sticks to your ribs.
・building a bland image；seem to be very important part in advertising these days,I used to think about advertising is more something to get you to to buy things and I'm sure that's still part of what advertisers want you to do,of course,but building a bland image seems to be extremely important step or long way to get the customers to buy a product and then continue buying it.
・boost；if you boost something,you support it or you strengthen it or raise the efficacy.

　昨日に引き続き、勝浦海中塔や小湊・鯛の浦など外房・南房総ツアーを楽しんだ後、アメリカ人の友人と久々に銀座で会いました。
　彼は現在NYでロースクールの学生をしているのですが、今夏は国際商事法を中心に仕事をしている日本の法律事務所で研修をすることになったんだそうです。何年ぶりかで再会したので、話は尽きませんでした。日本の経済状況のこと、ヒラリーやジリアーニ、ゴアやブッシュなどアメリカの政治のこと、NYの女の子のこと、国際商事法のこと、友人のインヴェストメントバンカーのこと・・・。彼としては、今後、日本と関連のある仕事をしたいということで、今回、日本の民事再生法や破産法などの勉強をして帰りたいそうです。ロースクールでは特にビジネス関連法を勉強していて、将来はM&Aなどの仕事も担当したいようです。彼には日本企業の現況を知ってもらうために、会計ビッグバンの仕組みや影響、また401kやペイオフなどの制度改革について概略を説明したのですが、これからお互いの知識を交換することができそうです。

　今日は一泊二日勝浦温泉旅行の初日です。月の砂漠記念碑など御宿を堪能？した後、勝浦に向かいました。宿泊先は「ホテルみかぁーづぅきぃー。」のCMソングで有名な勝浦ホテル三日月です。ここには併設された室内温泉プールがあったので、宴会前にひと泳ぎしたところ、すっかり疲れてしまいました。料理は勝浦の新鮮な魚貝類が中心で、非常においしかったです。私が特においしいと感じたのはお新香で（魚貝類も当然おいしかったんですが）、絶妙な味わいでした。お新香をこのように料理している、ということは他の料理についても同様な気配りをしているに違いない、と思うんですが。
　勝浦湾を望む部屋の方もすばらしく、以前二部屋だったものを改装して一部屋に変えたそうで、そのため部屋の広さも十分でした。また従業員の方の数も多く、「よくこんなに雇えるなあ。」と正直思いましたが、いいサービスを維持するためには必要なものなのでしょう。
　さて、プールから上がって本館のお風呂に入り、バスタオルで体をふいていたところ、なんか揺れてる感じがしたんですね。このときは「立ちくらみかなあ。最近疲れてるからな。」なんて思ってたのですが、脱衣場のテレビで「千葉県を中心に強い地震がありました。各地の震度は～」とアナウンサーが言っているではあ～りませんか。思いっきり海岸に建っているホテルですから、津波の心配があるわけですが、海を見ても何の変化もなく、テレビにも「津波の心配はありません。」とテロップが出たので安心しました。
　夜は台湾バンドのショウを見ましたが、CMソングを演奏してくれたので、非常にうれしかったです。「ホテルみぃかぁづぅきぃー。」←（「おお！これこれ。CD売ってない？」って感じでした。）

　今日は、米国大使館商務部のインターネット情報検索セミナーが開催され、私も参加してきました。
　内容としては基本的にインターネット上における米国企業の情報の検索の仕方という、あまりおもしろくない、というか、わざわざ説明してもらうまでもないようなことが中心だったんですが、質疑応答では興味深い内容が話されました。主な内容は以下の通りです。

Ａ；生鮮品であればＬ/Ｃ、それ以外で少額取引であれば商品到着次第ＴＴでもいい。

Ｑ；輸出入に関するregulation情報はどこで得られるか？
Ａ；USへの輸出に関しては、JETROが担当。→exporting　to　the　USAというマニュアルがJETROから発行されている。また各国への輸出に関しては、Intn'l　trade　reporterという本を編集したので、JETROへ問い合わせしてほしい。米国からの輸出規制に関してはBXAのページを見てほしいが、読みづらいので現在商務部で翻訳中である。まもなくHPにアップする。日本の輸入制限に関してはJETROのHPに掲載してあるので、それを読んでほしい。日本の特殊事情として、特にブランドものについてexclusiveな代理店が国内に存在することが考えられるため、事前のチェックが必要だ。

Ｑ；e-commerceによるビジネス上のトラブルには、商務部はどれくらい関与してくれるのか？
Ａ；基本的に商務部はTAX Payerである米国の企業にサービスをする機関であるので、日本の企業側には関与しない。ただ現実としては、たとえば米国の企業が日本の企業から売掛金を回収できないという相談を受けても、その日本の会社にその旨を伝えるにとどまる、もしくは倒産というケースであればその情報を米国の企業に伝え、プロを雇った方がいい、というアドバイスをすることくらいができることの限界だ。

Ｑ；e-commerceでのリスクは相手が見えないことによる不安感、つまりトラブルが発生した時のことが最大だ。トラブルの際、とり得る手段はどういうものがあるか？
Ａ；ポイントは相手の会社を知っているか、ということだが、事前にサンプルを送付してもらって、商品を確認してから取引をおこなうべきだろう。もしサンプルと異なる商品が供給され、トラブルの状況が悪化した場合、弁護士に依頼して抗議することになる。さらに紛争が長引いたときは、国際商事仲裁協会に調停をしてもらう。

Ｑ；e-commerceでトラブルになった場合、その解決に時間と費用がかかることが考えられる。このリスクについてはどう考えればいいか？
Ａ；e-commerce上、最も難しいのはこうしたビジネスでのトラブルの紛争解決である。はっきり言ってown riskでやってもらわざるを得ない。現実的には泣き寝入りがほとんどである。取引の前にその会社の信用調査することは欠かせない。ネット上に多くの信用調査ウェッブサイトがある（ex；D&R Million Dollar Database http://www.dnbmdd.com/) のでそれを利用してもいいだろう。→JETROでは米国企業であれば2～3日の期間で一社10,000円、東南アジアの企業の場合、2～3週間で一社30,000円程度で信用調査ができるので、問い合わせしてほしい。

　こんなことを書くのは大人げないんですけど、あまりの横柄さに呆れてしまったので・・・。先日NTTのことを書いたばかりですが、今日も書いちゃいます。昨日、今日とNTTに電話したんですが、その態度の「Ｌ」さ加減には参りました。まあNTTの方のごく一部だとは思うんですけど。念のため言っておきますが、私、「普通の口調」で電話したんですよ。
昨日（ＮＴＴ１号）
私「あ、すみません、テレホーダイを申し込みたいんですけど。」
Ｎ「テレホーダイの場合、20ｋｍ以内を指定先にするかどうかで料金が変わります。インターネットで使いたいんですか？」
私「ええ、そうです。今は回線の混雑次第で、アクセスポイント２箇所を使い分けてるんです。」
Ｎ「うん。」(「うん。」だとお！お前は何様？）
私「そうした場合は、料金が異なるんですよね？」
Ｎ「うん。ま、いずれにしてもテレホーダイの指定番号は二つ指定してもらうんだけど、番号わかる？」(なんという横柄×２な態度!!!）
私「あ、今番号はわからないので、またかけさせていただきます・・・。」（どっちが客じゃ？）
今日（ＮＴＴ２号）
私「テレホーダイを申し込みたいんですが。」
Ｎ「テレホーダイですね、何番を指定しますか。」
私「＊＊＊－＊＊＊＊です。」
Ｎ「月、800円で午後10時から明朝８時までがテレホーダイになります。」（おいおい、料金と時間が違うんじゃない？）
私「あの、すみません、よく聞こえなかったので料金と時間をもう一度教えてもらえます？」
Ｎ「(ちょーーー面倒くさそうに）だ・か・ら、月1,800円で午後11時から・・・」（何だよ、さっきと違うじゃねーかよ。）
私「わ、わかりました。お願いします。」
別に愛想よくしてもらうより、料金が安ければいいんですが、ねぇ。ここで一句。
