Hi !!
I am a follower of Nichiren Daishonins Buddhism and a member of Soka Gakkai(a militant laymen's league ?) and I was just looking at your homepage... I do understand that SGI has a trivial history in your country and also a lot of dubious rumors and tabloid headlines about it. Since your homepage is about religion in Japan I think it's a bit one sided and you obviously have a strong opinion on this matter. For example:
" According to Nichiren Buddhism, we have no ability to attain Buddhahood, because we are inherently evil and sinful and all good we are capable of doing is only to satisfy our selfish desire. "
Is a completely false statement. "You ,yourself are a true Buddha
enlightened with the three properties, with this conviction you should chant
Nam-myoho-renge-kyo." Sounds a lot more like Nichiren. And actually Nichiren never
said that we are inherenrently evil and sinful but "perfect and endowed with
the buddha nature." It seem to me that you haven't done your homework. I'm
not really trying to change your opinion on Sokagakkai but I can promise you
it's not half as bad as you think it is. But what I don't think is right is
the way you portray the Buddhism of Nichiren Daishonin. It is a truly
wonderful philosophy and I would expect it to be described in a more dignified
manner on a homepage about religion in Japan. Please don't give out statements
that you know nothing about...
Best regards
Stefan
