Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi's reshuffle of his Cabinet and the Liberal Democratic Party's top three executive posts Monday was a manifestation of his determination to put an effective finishing touch on his accomplishments in the remaining two years of his term as party head.

If he finishes his current term, he will have been in office for five years and five months, marking the third-longest administration in postwar Japan.

The Koizumi administration is therefore responsible for constructing a suitable base for the nation in the 21st century--a significant responsibility.

月曜日の小泉首相の内閣および自民党三役の改造は、彼の党首としての任期である年後までに、効果的な政策遂行の仕上げをする決意の表れである。

　彼が現在の任期を終えると、５年５ヶ月在職したことになり、戦後の日本の内閣で３番目に長い記録となる。

　それゆえ、小泉政権には２１世紀の国家にふさわしい土台を構築する重要な責任がある。

総理大臣小泉純一郎は、月曜日の内閣改造および自民党の党三役人事によって、総裁としての残り２年間の功績の効果ある仕上げをする意思であることを

表明した。

　もし彼が任期をまっとうすると、その職務に５年と５ヶ月いることになり、戦後の日本で３番目に長い政権として名を残す。

　小泉政権にはそれゆえ、２１世紀の日本に適した基礎を構築する責任があり、これは重要な責務だ。
