David

Messages from Royals fans in Japan (the message board nickname of each Japanese fan is highlighted after their question or comment) (注:実際の手紙では、それぞれ質問等の最後にメッセージを寄せてくださった方々のニックネーム等をつけましたが、サイトに掲載するにあたってはそれらを削除させていただきました。どうぞご了承下さいませ。)
As Japanese baseball fans are familiar with MLB, their hopes and requests to the MLB clubs are increasing and diversifying. We want to get more detailed information of players, games and clubs in Japanese. Also, we hope to communicate with American fans to feel our favorite team much closer to ourselves.
(Questions)
Fans in Japan hope to have an opportunity to ask questions as follows,
Do you think that Mr. George Brett become the Royals manager? Is there any possibility Mr. Brett leave the Royals to move to another baseball team?
I would like to know how much people in KC know about Japanese professional baseball. Do they know Darrel May once played in Japan and he was a teammate ofMatui at that time? How many people know that?
Where Tim lreland, who was a Royals scout (Pacific, Far East) and also played in Japan (Hiroshima Carp), has gone?
(Requests)
Foreign travelers really need detailed information of access to the stadium and security of the area. I've visited a lot of baseball stadium so far. From my experience, KC and Anaheim had the worst access from downtown to the stadium. I would like to ask the Royals to increase the number of the Royals Express shuttle bus and service them on time.
Last time I saw a night game at the K, I did not find any public transportation to go back to my hotel. I didn't know what to do, so I felt very uneasy. So could you make more sign boards that are easy to recognize for foreigners?
(About the Royals shop on the Net)
Early in the season, I'd like to buy a Carlos Beltran's Bobble head doll (for promotion) and a new Year Book on official website shop.
I 'm afraid that the Royals stopped to sale T-shirts with a players name and his number on the Net. I'd like to buy those kinds of T-shirts of George Brett, McRay, Dan Quiesen berry and Bo Jackson, if l can. If you sell these T-shirts with old team logo, I would like to get them.
(More Royals games on TV)
When Mac Suzuki played at the Royals, fans in Japan had opportunity to see the Royals game on TV. I still remember the line up at that time and could repeat that from memory like top batter Jonny Damon, second Ray Sanchez, third Mike Sweeney, fourth Jermain Dye, fifth Joe Randa, and sixth Mark Quinn. However now I don't have opportunity to see the Royals game in Japan because Japanese TV broadcasts only the Mariners and Yankees games because of lchiro and Matui. I can't get much information about the Royals now. Please sign with another Japanese player, then TV would broadcast a game ofthe Royals much more in Japan.
Could you contract with following players who plays in Japan
now?
Tadahito lguchi (SS/OF, Fukuoka Daiei Hawks)
Otuka (RHP, Chunichi Dragons)
Hirose lwaki (LHP. Chunichi Dragons)
Kazuo Matui (SS, Seibu Lions)
Alex Cablera ( IB/ DH, Seibu Lions)
Especially I think Cablera may be a good hitter like Cecil Fielder.
If the Royals want a Japanese player, I think that Toshihisa Nishi (2B/3B,Yomiuri Giants) will fit to the team.
I'd like to recommend these players to the Royals;
Toshihisa Nishi (2B/3B,Yomiuri Giants)
Takayuki Shimizu (OF, Yomiuri Giants)
Masumi Kuwata ( RHP,Yomiuri Giants)
Keiichi Yabu (RHP, Hanshin Tigers)
Kazuo Matui (SS, Seibu Lions)
Fumiya Nishiguchi (RHP, Seibu Lions)
Tomohiro Kuroki (RHP, Chiba Lotte Marines)
Shigeki Noguchi (LHP, Chunichi Dragons)
Ken Takahashi (LHP, Hiroshima Carp)
Hiroki Kokubo (2B/3B, Fukuoka Daiei Hawks)
I'd like to see an retired player, who once played in an Japanese
team and are familiar to fans in Japan, comments on a game.
( To appeal the Kansas City and its culture)
To appeal the originality of the town to fans in a foreign country must increase the attraction ofthe Royals.
Since Tak Kawamoto left from the Royals office, I've felt the club became estranged from Japan.
I would like to see more players, who grow up from the organization like George Brett, Dan Quisenbeny and Mike Sweeney.
Please don't forget to include information about what Negro Leagues did for this community. The Royals should add more to their marketing mix with the Negro Leagues. This is because the Negro Baseball Leagues was baseball missionary to the KC community.
(Japanese Royals 'Official web site')
I would like to see the Royals site in Japanese. It would be helpful that we can get more information on how to reach KC from Japan (flight schedule), public access (ground transportations), hotels, restaurants and etc. I would appreciate if more information about KC could be made available in Japanese.
If the Royals could make a Japanese website, then more Japanese fans could learn about the community in and around KC and about the Royals. In the future, I would like to see if a community in Japan and KC could exchange information about the baseball and more without the influence from mass media. This would be great.
