THANK YOU
First of all, I'd like to thankyou for coming to here. Once you go through the site, please e-mail me with your comments. In your hopefully detailed email, I would like you to tell me how you found the site.

BACKGROUND
This HP used to be a typical teen webpage that celebrated Japanese pop culture. The pages were full of rewritten news and facts, and scanned magazine pictures. Because every part of the page was unoriginal, I quickly lost interest. It was not until a while after having looked through the web, books and other sources, I noticed that the majority the sources did not fully depict the present Japan. The sources were either out of date, focused just on the past or present aspects of Japan, or was presented through a text that was full of tedious over analyzations. Furthermore, in the minds of many Japanophiles, the image of Japan painted by various sources often conflict eachother, causing confusion.

This HP is my attempt to lead people to see beyond the news, facts or experiences they read about Japan. My goal is very simple. I want my viewers to realize that Japanese people are human beings just like the viewers themselves, and Japan is another country just like their own. There might be many cultural differences, but the emotions and experiences people in Japan experience might be more similar than you might think. This is the essence of why I continue to update this website, but there are other goals I've set for this site. Before it was simply "to present Japan as it is now but through a more colorful atmosphere that will attract a more variety of people." When it came to sources on present day Japan, it used to be either just on the pop culture or more complicated topics like the economy. I wanted to focus more on daily life. I would have to admit, there were some sites that focused on daily life, but most of the time the layout was unorganized and dull. This is why I focus on design so much on my site. Not too elaborate like a normal graphic design site, but simple so people of all backgrounds can handle surfing through the site.

PLEASE REMEMBER
Before you e-mail your comments to me, please remember that I am not here to offend anyone. If you are offended by something on this site, please reread before making assumptions. Another thing I would like to point out is if you ask me to help you on school related homework through email, I'm not going to respond. However, if you have a topic you would like to discuss with me, I am always open for discussions. Hopefully the discussion might inspire me to write additional paragraphs in one of the existing sections, or I might create a new section. Furthermore, please do not e-mail me just for the sole reason of wanting to talk to a Japanese person for cultural insight. Hope you have fun searching around the site! Send me your comments at i_shiteru@hotmail.com.
