Religions



Do you have your religion? Many Japanese may say "No". I'm one of them. In the world, there are great many religions, and each of them has more or less devotees. For them, religion is a part of their lives, or their lives itself. I think it is wonderful to believe in one thing deeply. It's not so easy to carry through one belief. But sometimes it causes ferocious matters. There have been so many troubles made by fanatics. It is a quite serious situation. Religion is sometimes very dangerous if we devote ourselves totally in a wrong way. Don't you think that we should think about the religions again?

For many people, "Chikatetsu Sarin Jiken" may be a fresh memory. It occurred in the morning of March 20th 1995. Sarin, a deadly poison, was scattered on subways, Hibiya line, Marunouchi line, and Chiyoda line. It confused many people. 11 people were killed, and 3,796 were injured. This affair shocked not only the people live in Japan, but the people all over the world as well. And what astonished people more were the criminals of this affair. The criminals were the devotees of "Ohmu Sinri Kyou", and the order participated. The founder of this order commanded to carry out. Besides, many affairs made by fanatics are rampant now. For instance, terrorism by Muslim Fundamentalists in the Middle East, mass suicide acts in the US, and fraud acts by "Hoh no hana". What a dangerous world!

By the way, what do you think the reason why devotees cause troubles? I think there are two keywords to solve this question------cordial faith and mind control. Devotees always believe that "God is an absolute existence" or "The founder is absolutely right". The teachings of god or a fonder become their principles. They come to think that they must accomplish what God or the founder said. That's cordial faith. Also, devotees are taught to believe that they'll not be able to get salvation if they don't accomplish the command or to do it is the virtue or necessary thing. These are nearly threats. Devotees fear to disobey God or the founder. That's mind control.

Now this present age, there are so many types of religion. From 70s, many strange religions called "Cult" began to appear. Peculiarities of those orders are their unsoundness. The founder or order itself thinks about their profit only. Sometimes they extort money from innocent devotees. Then why those Cult grew rapidly recently? The background is social unrest, and hollowness of people of today. They always want to depend on something because of their uneasiness. They always look for something supports them. Then Cult takes advantage of their weakness. Anxious people are taken in by clever words. In an instant, they get caught in a trap.

What is the definition of religion? It is said that there are as many definition as scholars. I think that the religion is the reliance of people in any age. Religion touches their heart directly. They are saved by their faiths. But actually, there are too many religions lose theirs original character. Something is going to be wrong in our society. It is quite serious problem.

Religion is a precious culture. People may not be able to live without religion. So, we have to know if we devote ourselves totally in a wrong way, religion turn into a quite dangerous thing. Don't you look over your viewpoint of religion again?
