Manila is more than what it used to be!..... The best places
are in Makati, not down along the water (Roxas Blvd). Stay in one of
the less expensive hotels down along Makati Ave, I suggest Regine's
Apartel. The rooms are nice and the people are great. From there
you're only one city block away from the current entertainment centers.

About two blocks west of the Astrodome there is a place called "Sarilin
Atin" that's worth checking out. It's mostly a local hangout, but foreigners
seem welcome. It costs p50 at the door and there is a p100 minimum, but the
girls do a amusing strip routine and get totally em-bare-assed, albeit
briefly. The table area in front of the stage is surrounded by booths
enclosed in smoked glass. Price of admission to one of these is a min. of
p1,000; which is not to bad considering it can cover the ladies drinks.
Action starts at about 11PM and goes 'till about 4AM.

In January, the only clubs that appeared to still have shades of the old
Ermita and Pasay clubs were in Makati. Jools is the classiest. It is located
on P. Burgos St., off Makati Avenue, North of Buendia Ave. (Also known as
Sen. Gil Puyat Ave.). Any Taxi driver knows the P. Burgos area and all the
Makati Girlie bars are in this three block area.
Dimples, Pappion, Ritzy's, and Mogambo, are all good, but many of these are
small and it is best to get there earlier than 9:00pm if you hope to get
a seat and first shot at the ladies. Ritzy's is the largest club with the
greatest selection of ladies at reasonable prices. Bar fine is P300, and a
happy hour is in effect until 8:00pm. Mogambo is laid-back, serves good
food and drinks, and has an African Jungle type of motif. Several others
abound-- all have a slightly different twist on the Girlie Bar theme.
Jools has a floor show that is really quite good and includes singers,
dancers, and even Gay performers. A sexy lady (one of the hostesses) does
a very good Michael Jackson impersonation that will cause a double-take.
Jools claims that it doesn't have a "bar fine", which is their way of saying
"we're classier than the other clubs", but in fact they do-- and several
Mama-San are always available. They require that 8 drinks be purchased for
a lady before she is allowed to leave the club. At P180/drink, you can
easily get past US$60 in drinks before you qualify to invite the lady out.
Many of the girls realize that this is exorbitant and in some cases I've
been able to strike up a good conversation with a girl and have her meet
me after work-- or even the next day. Sometimes, the Mama-San will fudge
the drink figures a bit for a nice tip (about 200 Pesos)-- just another
example that anything in the Philippines is negotiable if you know how.
Many of the girls who were formerly dancers at Visions in Pasay City are
now at Jools. Jools is a second floor club and also has a Pub at the street
level-- so, make sure you don't mistake the Pub for the Club or you'll miss
the action!

The Heritage Hotel in Manila replaces condoms daily with towels, sheets, etc. It is
across the street from a large enclosed building on Edsa Street that contains five
go-go bars, all within a safe five minute walk from this hotel!

About the night clubs: most of them feature pretty good strip
shows. They require that you buy a minimum number of drinks per hour,
and if you have a girl at your table, they charge an hourly fee for that. To
take out a girl for the night, you pay a bar fine to the floor manager
and a tip to the girl; all in all, you'll probably pay $150-$200 for
the night.

This is a short manila update as I haven't seen much about that
location. This is dated April 96. I was told the 'Firehouse' was shut
down by police due to nude dancing violations. Could have been BS or
re-opened now. Instead a taxi driver took me to an area in metro
Manila called "Mayberry" or something like that. (No I did NOT see
Andy Griffith!). Right behind the big brown Welcome To... sign, was a
house with a black steel gate. It was a 'girls house' as described in
the other FAQ areas. I was surprised to see about 15 cute girls in
their early 20s there to choose from. The cost was 100 USD for all
night. I took one out at about 5pm and had to leave the next morning.
I tipped her very generously. She was well worth the money. Nothing
exotic, but as frequent and long as I desired. I would go back and
visit if to see her again,
