Are You A Grunge Person?

Hi! I am a Foxy Dead Girl (I guess).

If you are familiar with music, you already know what it means. (It’s Scott Weiland’s copyright). Well, but I’m not a big Scott fan actually. I’m a big Alice In Chains fan! So, please let me introduce myself. I’m a girl who really loves music. I like Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam and Screaming Trees.

A few years after focusing in Seattle, some big bands have broken up or are out of work now. But some parts of Seattle are still working… In the early 90s, a lot of bands came out from Seattle and made a movement called GRUNGE. They are Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Mudhoney, Screaming Trees, and many Sub Pop bands. In 1994, Nirvana’s front man Kurt’s death put a period to Nirvana. In 1997, Soundgarden broke up. Alice in Chains and Screaming Trees have been out of work for a few years. But Pearl Jam released a new album “Yield” in February 1998. Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell released his first solo album in March. The Seattle supergroup “Mad Season” (Alice In Chains’ Layne Staley, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, Screaming Trees’ Barrett Martin and Walkabouts’ Baker) turned into “Disinformation” when the vocalist Layne Staley left the band and Disinformation will release their first album by the fall.

　The influences that Seattle gave are very huge. There are a lot of followers in the present music scene from Stone Temple Pilots to Marcy Playground. You can find “the shadow of Seattle” in some bands that are popular among young people now. Of course some classic bands also influenced Seattle bands such as Neil Young, the Doors and Led Zeppelin.
