Today a lady who wants to offer me English lessons came over to my room.
She is about 54 years old and the owner of the house where my friend Yoko lives.
She is working at the Jubilee Hospital, and teaching English at the special association for immigrants.
She is planning to teach English in China. So she wants to have more student for her teaching experience
without any charge. I had asked Yoko to introduce me to her before and today was the first day that we met each other.
She named Irena was so energetic and so talkative woman. As soon as we finished introducing about ourselves,
I had to take some tests :oral interview, grammar, reading. During the test, my friend Yoko was playing with Yoichi not to disturb me.
Thank you, Yoko! Reading was an article about Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman which was a little bit higher hurdle for me.
But I think it is a good exercise to improve my reading speed. Irena explained the meanings of words that I couldn't get
after I answered the questions. Today was the first time that I had an individual one-on-one lesson, what we call, a tutor.
In my current situation, I am not satisfied with the TOEIC class at my new school at all because it is focused on only the test preparation
without any help for conversation improvement. I know it is the matter of course in view of the school curricula.
But I sometimes feel that I am losing my little improvement of those that I had learned at my previous school
while I am taking new classes at my new school, which is really sad for me because I am spending much money for Yoichi
and for our living expense and I want to save for myself. I believe that Irena can help me a lot from the both aspects,
the test preparation and also conversation. I hope I can juggle my time to meet her as much as possible
even though it is basically scheduled only once in a week.
We had a wonderful time after my lesson, cooking dumplings together.
Irena and Yoko were enjoying making dumplings and had more fun eating.
While cooking and eating, Irena kept talking and talking, which almost made me messed up the cooking process!
But we found that all of us are interested in cycling and cooking and promised that we would have fun together someday
in the near future of course including Yoichi. Irena was so impressed by Yoichi's English and she said
"he is like a kid born here!" And she has a kid's bicycle that she think is suitable for Yoichi and promised to bring it here in 2 days!
what a lucky, Yoichi! If he could have more fun with the bicycle, our excursion area would broaden out!
I had not expected today became such a lucky day!
