I went to Yoichi's class room to attend the Student-centered Conference.
My appointment was 3:30 pm, so until then I passed the time letting Yoichi play with his friends on the playground.
The student-centered conference is the chance that children can show and demonstrate face to face with their parents
what they are doing at class and how much they have made progress toward their own goals set by themselves last January.
Of course Mrs.Head was sitting in the class but she said nothing, only sometimes led children into demonstrating well.
Yoichi had to show me his reading skill, story writing skill, spelling skill, math, science, computer, music and gym activities
according to some pointed items for each subject on a piece of paper. It took about 20-30 minutes to finish them all.
Children divided into 4 or 5 groups started in rotation and conference was supposed to finish within 2 or 3 hours.
There were 3 other children started demonstration at the same time. I think this type of conference is the best opportunity
for both parents and children. I could know what Yoichi had been learning at class and how many goals he could have achieved,
and at the same time Yoichi was excitedly showing me his abilities at school. It is really good system to encourage children as well as parents.

After the conference, we went to the swimming lesson by bicycles after dinner. Jodi told me for it that I was crazy
because I had been so dead tired today that I almost fainted. Yes, I should have taken another option to get the bus even though
I did not want to admit a kind of sad fact that only one occasion of yesterday had worn me out so much.
Was it because of my age???

When it comes to swimming lesson, today was the last day of this term. His instructor gave him some comment on his swimming.
Believe it or not, he could be recommended to go the next level. I was surprised because he was sinking in the water and
he could not go forward with kicking, staying at the same spot. Yoichi was happy to hear that.
I think it means that you should have much more kicking practice, Yoichi !
