There was a Beaver's picnic at the Saanich Historical Artifacts Society Museum which was located about
15km the north away in the direction of the airport from my house. Now that the e-mail that I had received
from the Beaver's leader said, "This is a great destination for a bike ride. Follow the Loch side trail all the way,
" I was thinking about going there by bicycles. But the weather was hard to tell this morning.
The cloudy sky might start raining later. Luckily Brook's mother, the mother of Yoichi's classmate, phoned me
to offer us a drive there, we could go there by car. Otherwise I was almost giving it up! It was a long drive.
I realized it was good not to bike! Yoichi enjoyed there playing on the ground with friends and riding around
on the small steam locomotive which was about 4 or 5 minutes ride, passing through a tunnel, a bridge and a crossing.
This museum was built as a heritage of "the Canada Pacific" the old steam engine and railway which needed
a huge amount of labor and time to be built up in the Gold Rush era and since then had greatly helped people especially
raising efficiency on the forestry through the Vancouver island for a long while. I was so surprised to hear that those railroads
are used now as the trails for bikers and pedestrians. No cars allowed. The trails are split, leading to the north, the Lochside trail,
and to the west to the Sooke, the Galloping Goose Trail. Now a lot of people are having the great benefit of good trails
which are brimming with scenic spots and making detours to avoid climbing up and down the hills; it was because
those were built for the railroads originally.
After that Yoichi went down to watch the play of "the little mermaid" with Brook's mother and her 3 children,
and I went home with the leader. As soon as he came back home after watching the play, he went out to his Brook's house again
to trade some pokemon cards with Brook. I could have my own time for about 3 hours, making some duplicates of beads accessories
for sale until the time I had to go over to pick Yoichi up. And I gave one of bracelets to the mother, Anne, because she was asking me
to make it for her when she saw my bracelet today. I was really grateful for her making Yoichi's day by taking him to the play
and letting our children play together.
