ベートーヴェンが第９交響曲の創作中に書き付けた、ノートを紹介したいと思います(*1)：

(*2) この部分の歌詞は原曲からそのまま引用しているそうで、その本来の意味は
「人間が創られる前から、この地球やその上に神によって創られた大自然がまず最初に神様を賛美した。春になると一斉にたくさんの花や緑が咲き乱れたり、山や海などの美しい風景は、自然が神を賛美している」とクリスチャンではとらえているんです。それで、その賛美に私達人間も加わろう、共に賛美しよう、という意味でこの歌詞が作られているそうです。
