Peace Ceremony Supporting the Otomi People, March 21, 2004

On March 21, 2004, the Project of Gratitude to Gaia, Tokyo, held a Peace Ceremony Supporting the Otomi People in Tokyo Tamachi.  The Otomi are an indigenous people in Mexico.  They have a prophecy that the day when the Sounds of Eight Thousand Sacred Drums join together will be the beginning of a true Healing of Mother Earth.  About 150 people took part in the event in Tokyo and prayed for Healing of Mother Earth and World Peace together with the Otomi People.

(1) Greeting Speech

  Professor Hideo Nakazawa of Tokyo University delivered his greeting speech.

(2) Violin Performance

 Ms. Akiko Kume played Over The Waves (Sobre Las Olas) composed by Juventino Rosas (1868-1894), a pure-blooded Otomi Indian from Mexico.

(3) Traditional Japanese Drums

 KAHOREN group performed Japanese Traditional Drums, supporting the 8000 Sacred Drums Ceremony of the Otomi People.


(4) World Peace Flag Ceremony

 While raising national flags, they prayed for peace of more than 190 countries of the world.  At the end of the Flag Ceremony, they also prayed for healing of Earth with the Earth Flag and peace of the Otomi People with the Otomi symbol.

(5) World Peace and Prayer Day

 Mr. Okano of the WPPD Japan Committee introduced the peace event that will be held in June at the foot of Mt. Fuji.  He showed White Buffalo Teachings, a message book by Chief Arvol Looking Horse who had advocated this event. The Project of Gratitude to Gaia, Tokyo, supports the WPPD.

(6) Chorus

 The chorus group LUMIERE sang Cielito Lindo (Mexican song), Hana no Machi (Japanese song), Oboro Zukiyo (Japanese song), and La Cucaracha (Mexican song).  At the end of the event, all participants sang together Let There Be Peace on Earth .
