Takata Memorial Research Library

My Reading Room

Takata Memorial Research Library was completed in 1925 as the Waseda University's first ferroconcrete building. It has been serving as the Main Library until 1991 when the Center for Scholarly Information opened.

Now it is known as a representative landmark along with Okuma Auditorium and Tsubouchi Memorial Theater Museum.

After a drastic remodeling of the stack area of that building, the S.Takata Memorial Research Library was opened in 1994 and named after Sanae Takata, one of the four great founders of Waseda University.

It houses more than 400000 books which were previously contained in the 5 faculty libraries and 3 research institutes located on the Nishi-waseda campas. Its aim is mainly to support faculty, graduate students, and researchers.
