This specie as reviewed by Mc Cosker et al,(1975), are the most widely used grasses for growing in association with trailing legumes. This specie prefers the more fertile soils with good drainage and can withstand under shade condition. This specie grows best on heavy soils. It can also grow under shade. Prefers somewhat higher rainfall conditions and can withstand drought. Can be grazed or cut for Soilage or ensoilage. Grown from roots or tufts. Guinea grass is commonly propagated by rootstock due to poor germination rate of available commercial seeds. This plant is lowland plain generally below 2000 ft. |
