| Potassium |
This nutrient element (Potassium Chloride 60% K2O) is also needed by legumes for proper establishment of the crop. Legumes cannot compete with grasses for potassium, so that this nutrient should be applied in potassium deficient soils. Unlike phosphorus and nitrogen, potassium deficiency is generally not seen on vast area. This deficiency tends to occur on sandy soil where cropping, grazing or hay harvesting are practiced for long years. It is better to apply potassium chloride at the rate of 200kg / ha at the time of pasture establishment and later to add up to 100kg /ha on line with necessity. |
