RUMINANT STOMACH
The ruminants have special stomach chambers to digest olant food. When a ruminant swallows, food passes in to the largest stomach, the rumen, where microorganisms break down cellilose. The animal regurgitates the partly digested food, called cud, and chews it for a second time. The food then passes throughthe other stomach chambers, the reticulum, the omasum, and abomasum, where digestion is completed.
