A Letter of the Japan-America Society to the Candy Man

Dear Mr. Terasawa:

On behalf of the Japan-America Society of Washington, D.C. and members of the Sakura Matsurl Committee, I would like to thank you for participating in this year's 12th Street Sakura Matsuri. This year's festival was the most successful yet, with more participants and more visitors than ever. After 40 years the Matsuri has grown to become one of the premier events during the cherry blossom season in Washington, D.C. This is due in large part to the dedication and interest organizations like yours have in promoting and sharing the many facets of Japanese culture with our community.

The wide variety of activities and performances gave attendees a broad view of Japanese culture and the US-Japan relationship, attracting families with children and individuals with little or no knowledge of Japan. The excitement on the faces walking down 12th Street throughout the day was evidence that the festival touched the hearts of many who came.

If you have any comments about this year's festival or suggestions for next year, I would appreciate any input you wish to provide. I have enclosed an evaluation form, which I invite you to complete and return to the Society at your convenience.

We truly enjoyed having you participate this year and hope that you can join us again next year, Thank you again for your wonderful contribution to the 12th Street Sakura Matsuri!

Sincerely,

Laurel S. Lukaszewski
Associate Director & Festival Coordinator
