Dear Ms. JoAnna Phillips, Ms. Laurel S. Lukaszewski and staffs of the Japan-America Society of Washington D. C., It is great honor for all of us on the Ichikawa World Peace Festival Committee to have our Peace Delegation welcomed in bringing a Peace Pole to you. The Peace Delegation is made up of members of the Ichikawa World Peace Festival Committee, which is going to hold a Peace Event in Ichikawa City, near Tokyo, on April the first. In the Festival, we are going to pray for the peace and happiness of Japan, the United States, and all the other countries of the world while displaying on a large screen photographs of the Cherry Blossom Festivities in Washington D. C. which will be sent via the Internet to Japan. It goes without saying that the tie of friendship between the United States and Japan is the most important bilateral relationship for bringing peace to the world. We would like to express on this occasion our deepest gratitude and respect for the activities of the Japan-America Society in strengthening this tie of friendship between our two countries. The Cherry Blossom Festival reminds us of the cherry trees offered to the United States by Japan more than 80 years ago as a symbol of goodwill. We would like to renew this spirit of goodwill today through this Peace Pole.
May peace prevail in the United States of America. Sincerely yours
Hideo Nakazawa
