Shell Co.: Economic Exploitation in Nigeria
This report includes three topics,
1. Quality Controlling
2. Exploitation
3. Politics

-Quality Controlling-
Shell has been destroying nature in the local area: Serious damage is created by oil leaks and spills have caused the most serious damage.
Among Shellfs oil business over 28 countries, the 40% of oil leaking accident had occurred in Nigeria Delta. By leaked oil, it polluted water, killed many wild animals and plants.
Also, in the process of drilling Natural Gas, 95% of the extracted gas is burned, to the contrast, the U.S., 0.6% of the extracts is burned. Because of burning, it generates huge amount of Carbon Dioxide and Methane Gas, and it has been causing health problem in the local area.

-Exploitation-
In the exploitation issue includes,
1. Violation of Human Right
2. Serious Discrimination
The Shell came into Nigeria Delta in 1958.
Since then until the year 1996, only 2% of entire Shell employees are from local area; such as the Ogoni people.
So, the contribution of oil to the economy of Nigeria Delta is almost for nothing, but creating pollution, disease, poverty, and destruction.

-Politics-
Because the Shell is funding to gNigeriafs dictatorial governmenth and gRiver State Internal Security Task Forceh, in 1990, the Security Task Force (Local Police Officers) killed 80 local people who was demonstrating against the Shell.
Another political incidence occurred in 1995.
There has been a movement called gMovement of Survival of the Ogoni Peopleh.
eKen Saro-Wiwaf was one of the activists from the movement. He was a writer and environmentalist, and he was hanged along with eight other activists, by Nigeriafs military.
