Hi Everyone!! This page has really been created for my Friends. They are always telling me to put my pictures of my fish on a webpage, so here they are!!! Haha!! (o^^)O !! If you are wondering why there is a plug & chain on these pictures. It is because I had to put the fish in the bath tub to get a good picture of them….. ^_^ I will add the picture of my fish & give a little explanation about it (In the following updates I will add some background history to the species of each fish, but for now I will just say what I know.). If you really want MORE on this page, email me or add your comment in my guest book. This is my first webpage, I know it isn't very good.. Heheh. These Fish are called 'Calico Oricana'. They are one of my favourite species of Cold-water fish. I love the colours of their scales & their tails. Their colours ore similar to the colours of a Shibumkin Fish (Shown somewhere below) and their body shape is similar to a fan- tailed goldfish (Also shown somewhere below). I would guess that they are a cross- breed of the two species mentioned above.
I have owned the larger Calico for about 2 years now. The smaller calico is about 6 months old now. They grow very slowly but when fully grown; they are very beautiful.

These fish are 'Fan- tailed' goldfish. As you can see there is a similarity in the shape of this fish & the Calico's. The two fish shown above are of different breeds. The Top Fish is a 'Fancy' It has a shorter tail and its body is much rounder & longer than that of the bottom fish. The bottom fish is a true breed 'fan- tail'. I have had the top fish for about 2 and a half years & the bottom fish about 1 year. These fish grow quite large but it would take many years to get to that stage.

These Fish are 'Shibumkin'. You will notice that they have the same coloured scales of the Calico's. These fish are similar to Goldfish in their body shape. But they grow much larger. They are perfect pond fish so if you have a pond, I would suggest you buy these. They are pretty cheap to buy in specialist stores. The two fish shown are of the same age. The darker fish is male & the white fish is female. They have become a breeding pair and are almost at mating age. ^_^

Ahhh… Now its time for everyone's favourite fish, The Goldfish! I am sure I don't need to explain much here, as I am sure you have heard of or seen these beautiful & popular fish before. The common pond & aquarium goldfish first originated in China. Since then, they have become children's & adults favourite pet for many many years. The two shown are of different varieties. The bigger goldfish has a much shorter tail & is a more commonly seen fish. The smaller fish however, has a long trailing tail, which is a little more rare. When fully grown, the long tailed goldfish will have a tail reaching many cm's in length, making it a beautiful fish to look at either in a pond or an aquarium.

This Fish is called a 'Japanese weather loach'. I am sure when you first looked at it you thought UGLY! Well you are correct.. haha. This fish is pretty ugly. But I find it fascinating to watch. It swims like an eel (possibly a related species) & looks around for food in the smallest of spaces. This fish prefers a dark place & likes to hide. Rocks and plants are its favourite hiding places. It eats a lot of dirt from the aquarium/ pond, so it is a good fish to buy if you want to keep your water clean & free from dirt for longer. This fish is a Japanese favourite for a nice meal. It is often fried & eaten.

On the next page I will show you my absolute favourite fish of all. The Japanese Koi Carp! Or Nishigigoi. Having many species this fish has to be the greatest and most popular pond & aquarium fish of all. However they tend to be VERY expensive & often over priced. I will explain more on these fish in my 'History of Koi Carp' page.
