ルアー作りから始まって、ロッドにまで手を加えたことは先述した。
詳しく話せば、初めて作ったのはリアルミノー。その後、クランクベイト、バイブレーション、トップウォータプラグといった具合に色々なものに挑戦した。やがて、ショップにロッドのブランクが置かれるや否や、私の好奇心はまたしてもムクムクと。更にガングリップにオリジナル性を感じた私は世界に１つしかない自分専用のロッドを作ることに取り掛かった。ここに記録の写真などはないが、グリップは自分の手のひら、指一本一本にフィットさせるために粘土で型も作った。また、１本の角材から削り込むのに数週間かかったが、それはそれでとても楽しい時間であった。同様にセルロースセメント塗布の約１週間も、輝きを増していくグリップを飽きもせず眺める至福の時間であった。
I've already informed that I made not only original lures but also original rods before.
I made some real-minnows for the first time. After that, I challenged various ones such as the crank bait, the vibration, the top-water plug. Then I desided to creat an original rod that is only one in the world when I found some blanks of the rod at the shop. It took much time but it was very pleasant time to reduce from one piece of square lumber. Cellulose cement application's about 1 week was the time of the paradise to look at not being tired, too, in the grip which increases a blaze in the same way.

写真を見ても分かるように、グリップを上から見ると左右非対称になっている。私は子供の頃からリールはすべて左手で巻いていたので、ベイトリールでも左専用のものしか使わず（昔は種類が少なく苦労した）、どうしても右手専用のベイトロッドが欲しかったのだ。市販のグリップ（写真の小ぶりの方：レスターファイン・グレートインパルス・ボロン）に比べて一回り大きいのも、私の手の平に合わせたためである。また、グリップが太いとロッドも心なしか軽く感じ、とても気持ち良くキャストできることも分かった。
　私の友人はラバーグリップのゴムの部分を削り取ってコルクグリップに変えた。少し使い込んだタックルなら、思い切ってトライしてみては？ロッドのカラーリングでもオリジナル性が出せますよ。
