article is about advantages and disadvantages of 17c pikemen and17c musketeers
of western European countries. At first, let's look at 17c pikemen.
17c Pikemen

Able to make bigger army then musketeers, because it has less
building time

Very effective in the battle near the fortress

Very effective in formations

It can attack in very narrow space

Use a lot of resource, especially iron, even though the cost of
individual is low, it has short building time so lots of resource will be spent

It is easy to die because they are always fighting in front of the
battlefield
If
you look at this list, you can see that it has more advantages then
disadvantages. Pikemen can fight with your cavalry in the front of the
battlefield, or it can be a replacement of cavalry in low pt or after your
cavalries are dead.
17c Musketeer
l
It costs very low because of long building time.
l
Attack in certain disatance
l
Needs less houses because of long building time
l
It could fight in the close distance
l
Almost useless when fighting near the wall or buildings
l
Not so many achievements when you form formations
l
Can't make big army because of high building time
In
the case of 17c musketeer, there is more disadvantage then advantage. So, is
there any way to use it? Answer is yes. You can use them as a supporting unit
of cavalry. One of the good thing about the musketeer is that it never hits
your unit so let your cavalries fight in front and reduce the enemy from behind
by musketeers.
There
are more ways to use pikemen then using musketeers, however in open
battlefield, musketeer will be a good support unit for cavalries. Also
producing musketeers needs less iron then producing pikemen so it might be a
wise choice to produce musketeer and use the iron for certain upgrades.
