Parents are very religious. They never missed to pray five times a day as the duty of Muslim.

When Muslims pray, men put on the hats made by race in the head. Women wear Chador to cover the hair and the body completely.

The special Chador adds a gom not to come off by the movement to pray.

They lay small carpet for the prayers. They recite the phrase of the pray facing the direction of the Mecca and standing up and crouching down.

Though it must be very grave, actually it is a part of dairy life. The nephew was playing with toys silently in the room where Father was praying or Mother picked out something from the shelf beside him.

Islam and family

I imagined Muslim people and their lives were severe and hard because the Islam is strict.

They are not severe to the other people even if each Muslim is strict for oneself. Because They attach importance for the personal relantions between God and oneself.

Most people make their religion a part of their lives at ease as much as oneself can.

They tresure family very much. Though the husband takes the head of a family, but he is not haughty.

Even if householding is the wife's job, the husband helps her often. I saw many men cooked delicious dish.

Both parents are responsible for the children's education and discipline as well.

It seemed the husband and the wife were equal relation. Though Islamic law says men are greater and women's right is half of men's, it was not real in the present day.

Actual couple's relation is similar to Japanese or Western couple's one. I saw some women were even stronger than their husband.

According to Iranian law a man can have five wives, I have never seen a man have more than one wife.

At first If a man want to marry the second wife, the present wife should approve the second marriage. Because women has been stronger, they hardly accept the other wives of her husband.

The husband has to get the present wife's approval and support all wives and children economically and handle them equally. That is almost impossible.

It is said that polygamy was made to save war widows economically in the old days. It has no meaning any more.
