Travel note in Persia 6, Dance until midnight
There is a custom that the gold is presented to the bride in Iran. Though we give money on the wedding in Japan, they give the gold accessories on the ceremony here.
The gold is familiar for the life and there are many gold shops wherever.
The shops sell the accessories in gram unit. You can buy them by the world common gold rate plus a little processing fee.
You can change them into money. They are purchased by the price of gold rate. Or you bring some small gold accessories to the shop, then you can change into bigger one.
Though it was presented in the wedding originally, I didn't have a wedding in Iran.
The relatives prepared for the gold because I was a bride for them and they had never seen me, even if we got married four years ago.
"Please sit down here." the niece laid a cushion and let me sid down.
All gathered around me, and Mother brought the package of the velvet first. It obtained the thick gold chain necklace there. It was the present from Parents.
She took it by her trembled hands, and put in on me. She huged and kissed me, I did so, too.
All clapped and Father stood up in the back . He was watching me with smiling.
The next seemed to be the turn of Brother. He stayed at this house with us because he was single. He wore a gold bracelet on me.
Party
The people visited us one after another even in the evening. The people who came to the airport were still there. But the friends who were not the relatives went back.
Newly we were visited by the aunt's family, the second cousin's family and the family of the cousin who is a doctor.
When someone come and come back, women surely hug and kiss both cheeks each other for a greeting. So men do.
Mother who is very busy in the kitchen work also came to have a greeting to the entrance many times.
The near relatives surely come to meet the person who is away from Iran and come back like my husband even if they have jobs.
It is a manner that even far relatives visit the house within 2,3 days after the return.
Every time someone came, they served Sharbat(juice), fruits, cakes and Chai(tea). Later it was the same when I visited the other house. This seems to be the standard of summer.
Iranian people have a dinner originally on lunch, recently on supper. My first dinner in Iran was Supe-jou(Barley tomato soup), Ghormeh-sabzi(Herb and beans stew), Murg(Chicken boiled with the spices) and salads.
I had never had barley soup. It was very delicious and became one of my best Iranian dish. Because alcohol is prohibited, any party becomes lively with Chai, cola and so on.
The near relatives continued the party till the midnight on my first day of Iran. It was sounded Iranian dance music in the quick tempo by the casette recorder.
They were the nephews and the nieces who danced. They made the waist crooked in sexy Iranian dance.
The girls were spread their hands to look up at the fingers delicately, and the boys stretched the arms straight n the top or the side and showed themselves intrepid.
My son who was one year old had already gotten used to the situation and imitated their dance.
The adults clapped and applauded from the back. It was lively because there were about 20 people even if only the near relatives came.
