| Dystocia (Difficulty in Parturition) | ||
Causes : -Myometrial defects (uterine defects) -Hypocalcemia -Uterine torsion or rupture -Primary or secondary uterine inertia. -Inaequate pelvic canal -Insufficient dilation of the cervix, vagina or vulva. -Fetal hormone deficiency -Fetal oversize. -Fetal death or abnormal fetal presentation. |

Clinical signs and lesions : -Difficult labor and parturition. -Uneasy, restless. -Stenosis or obstruction of the vigina. -Vagino-cervical prolapse. -Colic by treating, kicking at its abdomen and switching of tail. -Moderate anorexia. -Failure of cervix to dilate. |

Recommendation : -Medical management is indicated in the relatively stable when dystocia results from secondary inertia, chemical deficiency or easily correctable malpresentation. |
