Causes :
-Over exposure to sunlight
-High ambient temperature
-Prolonged and severe musclar exertion among fat animals.
-Inadequate ventilation on confinement specifically during transport.


Transmission :
-None. This is purely physical and envirinmental related condition.


Clinical signs :
-High body temperature 42.5 degrees centigrade, normal body temperature on cattle is 36.8Ž
-Increased respiratory rate (planting)
-Salivation
-Increased thirst
-Reduce urine secretion.
-General depression.
-Abortion in pregnant animals.
-Death due to respiratory arrest.


Recommendation
:
-Provide adequate drinking water with shed in extremely hot and open pasture areas.
-Ventilators are necessary for confined animals to allow air movement.
-Spraying and flushing with cold water.
-In emergency cases, apply intravenous fluid treatment.
-Bring the animal under shade or trees in order to sool-off.
