Pediculosis

Cause : Damalinia bovis (cattle), Haematopirus tuberculatus (Carabao)
|
Transmission : By contact with infested animals.
|
Clinical signs and lesions :
- Presence of nits and lice on hair.
- Severe itching manifested by scratching,
rubbing and biting of affected parts.
- Unthrifty appearance.
- Anemia.
- Rough hair coat and loss of hair.
- Low production.

Recommendation :
- Premises recently vacated by infested stock
should be disinfected before being used for
clean stock.
- Dipping or spraying of animals with insectisides.
