| Retained Placenta (Non-explusion of fetal membranes 24 hours
following parturition) |

Causes : Predisposing factors : abortion, hydrops
pf fetal membrance, dystocia and trauma of
the genital tract suring correction.
|
Clinical signs and lesions :
- Usually acerating, discolored membrannes
are seen hanging from the vulva 24 hours
after giving birth or explusion of the fetus.
- Occasionally, this may persist within the
tract and cause a foul smelling discharge.
|
Recommendation :
- Manual removal should not be attempted until
at least 48 hours after calving and then
only if can be gently, quickly, completely
and without trauma and hemorrhage.
- After removal placenta, uterus should be
irrigated by antibiotic or disinfection medicine,
which is accompanied by antibiotic treatment.
