GREECE
My recent trip to Greece
It can be our last trip together with my
whole family. As we are all going to have
a job expcept for me. I have one more year
to go. So, this trip was very special for
each one of us.
Athens
We flew into Amsterdam from Osaka. There
is no direct flight from Osaka. Then from
Amsterdam to Athens. We arrived at midnight.
It was very chilly. I expected it to be very
hot though. On next day, we went to Parthenon
in Acropolice. I did not know that it was
built with marble. It was interesting how
the archtecture of Parthenon was created.
When human beings think of building or constructing
anything, they first think of anything straight.
However this Parthenon does not have anywhere
that is straight. The pillars have different
circumference from each other. And the lines
of pillars are not straight.
I tried Greek food too. It was very delicious
and I loved Mousakaa which is like lazania.
Santorini
On next day, we flew to Santorini. One of
the Greek islands. It was very beautiful.
We rented a car and drove down to Kamari
beach where we met a cute dog. The beach
was interesting. I have never seen a beach
with stones. There were marble stones too.
And for the sunset, well, you can never see
such a beautiful sunset like in Ia.
They say this is the best sunset in whole
Europe. As the island itself was created
as a result of volcano eruption, there is
still a bit of volcanic ash. It makes the
reflection some way different from other
places. And yes, we have seen SO MANY STARS
on the way back. I saw three shooting star
in just ten minutes.
Cruise
So, we went on a cruising for just two hours.
It took us for volcano island just on the
other side of Santorini. We had to walk up
to the top of that island to see the view.
It was a bit tiring but in our cruiser, we
have the team for "Lonely Planet"
on discovery channel. So what do you think?
I think I visited one of the best islands
in Greece and the best cruising. ;-) Oh we
went in the water ( actually it is very cold
water. 15-17c)!!
But as it is volcanic, they had hot spring.
The water is in gold color and it was not
hot at all. It was around 24c. But to swim
to the hotspring (cold spring) was freezing!!
It was ok. Discovery channel was there too.
Shopping in Athens
Yes, this is what I love... hehehe... wherever
I go, I need to shop. In Greek, I thought
that leather sandals were cute. I bought
two pairs. That was in Santorini though.
But you need to bargain. Even they call me
"HK girl" or "Japanese"
I do not care... I just TALK to them.
Because they think all the Asians are very
rich. I think it is worth bargaining. Not
as good as in mainland China though.
In Athens, there was only one street that
I liked for shopping. It was close to Sintagma
square, and called Ermu street. They have
ZARA and other brands but what I actually
liked was the dress!!! It was almost like
weddeing dress though. The price was cool
too. I mean very expensive.
On the way back
We took flight from Athens to Milan, then
to Amsterdam. We only had ten minutes in
Milan.. I wanted to go shopping... hmmm :-(
After all,
I think it was very very relaxing days and
the food!!!! YUMMY. They were all excellent!
I love Greece now. I think for the next trip
to Greece, I would like to go to Crete island.
I heard the west coast of Crete island (Hania)
has lovely beaches. I would like to go there.
But as for the next European trip, I think
Turkey is the one. I have to accompany my
dad's conference.
Well, next trip abroad will be to Vancouver
Canada.
Till next time.
